I’m getting ready to pull the trigger on a
Softronic tune
for my
2006 Cayman S
manual with
PASM
and I was curious about the procedure. The website doesn’t discuss how you specify what you want out of the tune. How do you request specifics? I want the emphasis to be on driveability and midrange. Is there any downside to requesting sport mode “always on”—how does that effect the
PASM
? Is the “pops and bangs” option cool or annoying? Any other insider tips?
There is nothing custom other than which octane you want.
He does have a 93 and a 91 file
Also, it does take a while for the adaptation process.
I found my car took almost 4 days to learn everything and that's with the initial TB adaptation process parked, and a few dozen drives with ignition cycled.
TB adaptation is nothing more than key power to position 2 and let it do.its thing.
You will hear it buzz and blurb.
That's normal.
Sometimes it takes a few min.
Call
softronic
for more info.
It's a pretty simple process. They are busy, so getting your file same day aren't always possible.
Make sure the computer is plugged into a wall, and the car on a
battery tender
!
Good luck.
Worth the money imo

Give us a call and ask for John Gaydos. We'd be happy to set you up with a
Softronic tune
and walk you through the process of ordering and installation.

OMG! they are out there monitoring us... i thought as much.
anyway, i shall say no more, lest i be emailed an enticing coupon or two...
Pops and bangs are very much a personal preference thing. I personally hate them but you may love them. Listen to one of the newer cars with it from the factory to decide.
Call Scott at Softronics and leave him a message, then call again later to refresh the conversation of getting rid of the mid range torque flat spot and add much more data
points
on various maps to smooth out the power curve delivery. Its a good idea to change your
headers
(like
Soul
catless long tube race
headers
) now before the Softronics upgrade. If you are so inclined to change the throttle body/ Plenum as well, you can find these items for sale at reasonable prices like the IDP 82 mm throttle body kit. Then, have Scott match the induction wave to the
exhaust
by changing various maps as mentioned below.
"To make use of these new high flow intake components,
Softronic
has developed an exclusive all new Motronics software tuning flash. This new software flash targets the higher volumetric efficiency of the intake and engine by completely retuning the remaining intake resonance valve, Vario Cam Plus, Ignition, and Fuel delivery maps. The results: Never before seen tire roasting increases in mid range torque and a nice extension to high RPM horsepower, all files are tested with 93oct and
exhaust
recommended." From Scotts

Race Plenum kit brochure. I have this kit installed and it works like he mentioned, although it's hard to roast the rear end due to the wide RE71's and a Wavetrac
LSD
