(this is a 74ish a/c 911) oh make sure its not a cat "A" ,tempered by the "mechanic" adjusting the spark plug gap with a "vernier gauge" in disguise as a feeler gauge. No mention of gearbox or corrosion at all.

I've not watched that one for a while, but don't they have to replace the gearbox?

Suggestion

Id be surprised if there's any perspective old 911 purchasers out there who would only use wheeler dealers as research material before splashing out.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Should they not do better on a TV show?

POST 2Original post

I've not watched that one for a while, but don't they have to replace the gearbox? This would suggest to most viewers that it's an area of concern.

POST 3Original post

Depends whether you view it as an entertainment show or a consumer advice show. I find them entertaining. Id be surprised if there's any perspective old 911 purchasers out there who would only use wheeler dealers as research material before splashing out.

pete.g said: I've not watched that one for a while, but don't they have to replace the gearbox? This would suggest to most viewers that it's an area of concern. Yes to be fair I suppose so, but they could have listed a few bullet points, they were away from the project car with an "enthusiast owner" and asked what are the main things to look out for when purchasing an early 911,IMO it only needed a bit of effort, but I guess its only a TV programme weak content being the norm these days.

Two of Mike's 911's are coming up for auction. The red one I remember watching the episode on....guide price of 60-80K for an SC seems a bit high to me. https://www.iconicauctioneers.com/1982-porsche-911... https://www.iconicauctioneers.com/1974-porsche-912...
