We dont have a very good forum here in Australia(well know where near as good as this one!) I am looking at getting a PPI done on a 996 and wondered if any of the PPI's done in the UK would include any radiator leak tests or compression test anything that would somewhat validate some of the internals...most of the PPI's I have read about for the UK or AUS only do visual inspections and road tests...

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi from Australia. Thanks Mike

POST 2Original post

I'm not aware of any PPI that is anything other than visual. Radiator condition would probably be picked up through this, as the majority of issues are through rusting condensers at the front of the car (and can usually be easily seen/smelt). Peter Morgan PPI is usually regarded as one of the better ones: http://www.porscheinspections.com/ ...and even this in the T&Cs mentions that it's limited to visual inspection only. The Porsche 111 point check (official one) is only visual as well, but both include inspection of things like coil packs etc.

POST 4Original post

A PPI is what you want it to be. If it is done at an decent independent in the UK you can have compression and leakdown tests on the engine if you wish. It will cost more and takes more time but you get a much better picture about the health of the engine. I would always have a PPI at a good independent rather than the mobile services (no matter what the reputation) as the car can be put up on a lift and you can have the extra tests if you wish. Ian.
