I believe the condenser for the A/C packed up and was replaced and the gas re-filled.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My problem was resolved under warrenty and I'm waiting for the official report in the post as to the exact work that was carried out.
Hi
I'm new to this website and the forums. So forgive me if this topic has already been covered.
I recently bought a C4S Tip (2002). I believe the condenser for the A/C packed up and was replaced and the gas re-filled. The A/C unit is working fine.
However, when the car warm's up there appears to be white smoke coming from the front 2 grills which I believe are 2 radiators?
Smoke appears from both sides and is only noticeable when stationary and in cold weather. All my internal dails read OK!
Is this normal after having fitted a new A/C condenser?
I do have Porsche Warrenty and was wondering if this would be covered?
Or is there something simple I could do to rectify it?
I would appreciate any advice.
Thanks
Further to my post. I have checked the coolant level which is above min.
But I have noticed some greenish fluid leaking very slowly from the drivers side front radiator area!
Would this fluid be the coolant?
And can this cause steam/smoke to come from both sides at the front of the car?
Yep, thats coolant alright. Would also account for the smell. Not sure why it would produce steam though. Id guess its just evaporating leaked coolant.
keep an eye on your coolant level and keep it topped up until you get the offending radiator replaced. Running out and overheating could be a very costly exercise. My Elise lost its head gasket that way and Id shudder to think what a 911 would cost to remedy. A radiator replacement is a simple enough exercise but no idea of the cost Im afraid.
Thanks for the advice Andrew. I have a good relationship with my local OPC and have asked if they would look at it and hopefully repair it under the warrenty. I'll keep you all posted.
Hi
I have a 996 c4s 2005.
Having the same problem, leaking coolant off side front. Dropped the car at porsche chiswick. Have the main dealer warranty, but he did mention it may not be covered :? . What it the point of having the warranty.
Did you get yours done on warranty?
Sorry for my late response.
My problem was resolved under warrenty and I'm waiting for the official report in the post as to the exact work that was carried out.
From my understanding (and I'm no expert), the front two A/C condensors were replaced as one was leaking.
Not sure if this helps?
