The first drive from getting them installed was when i had PSM kick in and i thought it was due to new tires but they should be scrubbed in by now.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I recently replaced the rear tires only on my C4S. Since then i have had several occasions where the PSM warning light has come on and the traction control has engaged. The tires are the same Michelin Pilot Sport 4S as were on there before. When PSM has engaged i wasnt really pushing the car that much but going through some tight turns on my way home. Any clues on what might be going on. I checked tire pressure and i had 37/46 when warm.

POST 2Original post

How many miles have you put on them? I believe brand new tires are more slippery at first from chemicals in manufacturing. Article from continental: https://www.continental-tires.com/products/b2c/tire-knowledge/braking-with-new-tires/

POST 3Original post

You cant use new rear tires with worn front tires on a C4S. They will have a different diameter on them and the computer that reads the wheel speeds for traction and stability control see that difference and freak out. On a AWD car you need to replace all 4 tires same time.

POST 4Original post

Yes and no. There is a range of about an 1" in difference that the psm/abs will tolerate. find a scanner that can read the speed sensors and graph the results.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The rears have ~150 miles on them. The first drive from getting them installed was when i had PSM kick in and i thought it was due to new tires but they should be scrubbed in by now. I will check with my Durumetric scanner tonight.

POST 6Original post

I suspect there is a loose speed sensor connection or one was damaged/failed when the tires were changed.

You may need more miles. I replaced my rear tires (with the same size, brand, model) and the rear was unnervingly squirrelly for the next 600 miles. It completely disappeared around 1000 miles.
