Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

It indeed does fit, just unscrew the left-pointing connector on airbox, put the FREE SAMPLE in, tighten clamp and you are done.
Leading evidence: 'Tighten clamp and you are done' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Tighten clamp and you are done' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. I have seen people use the bottle cap off a "big mouth" oil bottle before to plug the Helmholtz..It's free and fits too..

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Folks who spend $250-$300 for a simple tube and cap may be disappointed. Maybe the expensive part is better looking, or not, dunno. Whatever, a FREE PART makes your wallet look a lot better.
The "kits" have a small plug for the airbox. The diameter is 1.75" IIRC.
I found a place "caplugs.com" that has an exact size red plug, # CPT-19. It was listed at ~$9. When I went to Check-Out, it came up as ONE FREE SAMPLE! That may be why I did not pay attention the the price too much. I ordered it, wondered if it was too good to be true.
Nonsense! It arrived by US snail-mail a few days later. It indeed does fit, just unscrew the left-pointing connector on airbox, put the FREE SAMPLE in, tighten clamp and you are done. The plug does not ADD or SUBTRACT anything visually.
How can you beat that?
YMMV

One thing I would check to be safe, there are a lot of air vibrations in there and since it just plugs in, make sure it cannot vibrate back up the intake pipe and jam the throttle body...
It's too big to ever get past an intake valve and damage the engine, but it can sure jam the throttle and cause an "Oh Sh*t" moment.....
Thanks for the heads up! I am one of those folks using a mobil 1 cap. I just checked out on a sample. Itll be nice to have a more finished looking plug.
Interesting suggestion. My solution-
I had extra bicycle brake cable left over from moving the Emergency Pull Wires for frunk and engine lid. It is very small diameter, flexible, and strong. and I drilled a hole in the "tab" part of cap and threaded a sort piece through the hole. I also have nicro-fico tools to put another end "stop-piece" (or whatever it is called) on it. I also had a small piece of cable with a stop already on it, so one "free" end goes outside the "hole", gets stuck by the rubber bellows reinstall, and held fast by the clamp. The cap cannot go anywhere. Problem solved.
Another way: local "farm store" has black rubber plugs, about 3/4" thick. Cost is about $4. One is perfect size, and could be jammed in the hole. since it is a bit wider at the top of the plug, wet the edge and reinstall the bellows part. It is now stuck by the bellows and the clamp. You could add the wire also if desired.
Just thinking out-of-the-box...
YMMV
