Suggestion

I was changing the brakes yesterday and had a good look under the wheel arches and under the car - not a trace of rust, even the fasteners were clean!

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I know the 996 is galvanised, but as some cars are now coming up to 12+ years can we all be confident that rust is not a problem on these cars, or is some additional protection such as Waxoyl a good idea? My hunch is that these cars a fairly rust free but wanted to check other people's experience/viewpoint [ ]

POST 2Original post

I was changing the brakes yesterday and had a good look under the wheel arches and under the car - not a trace of rust, even the fasteners were clean! Not bad for a 92,000 mile nearly 10 year old car.

POST 3Original post

My car is 10 and rust free but I sprayed Dinitrol about the suspension strut mountings, springs bases, all the brake and fuel hoses, jacking points and anywhere exposed. I figured I couldn't do any harm for what amounted to an hour's work.
