I'm running the FVD X-pipe and strangely enough I haven't thrown a check engine light and I can pass smog sniff test.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The catalytic converters on my 03 C4S need to be replaced and I'm trying to decide between a standard cat setup and an x-pipe, both from DesignTek. Is this X-pipe worth the extra $500 over the standard setup? If so, why?

I cant remember where, but I read somewhere that the benefits of joining the banks was engine-dependent (probably most), but wasnt necessary with a flat 6.
It also seems that in our application, the X sacrifices low end grunt for upper-mid to top end. So it would seem it also depends on intent of use.
I had the x-pipe from them. The 200 Cell cats failed after about 2 years. Since, I've gone catless and haven't looked back. So much better and you can def feel the HP gains.
Which X-pipe did you go with and how did you resolve the CEL? O2 sensor extensions or software?
This one seems reasonable.

I have been running the FVD x-pipe for 2 years on my 3.8 . It is very well made and fit was perfect on my car . I am also running generic aftermarket headers with Fister Motorsports modified mufflers . When I installed the x-pipe I purchased generic auto parts store O2 extenders . I have not had a single check engine light since the install . I am very happy with the sound and performance of my exhaust system .
I'm running the FVD X-pipe and strangely enough I haven't thrown a check engine light and I can pass smog sniff test. While previously with the Design UK 200 cell cats X-pipe I had an intermittent check engine light that I had to work around for smog. Go figure.
