Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that contain suggestions
1
0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
consider selling your 996 private, even if you have to take nearer £10K (realistic value) cost of change will be less than giving it to the dealer & paying window price on Turbo.
Leading evidence: 'Replace will be less than giving it' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace will be less than giving it' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Had my c2 for 6 months after a 45 year wait. Then...
Porsche dealers gets me in a 996 turbo and then 45 year dream is history and becomes a turbo wish.Still love me c2, still get prickly when I get in it but yearn for a turbo.
Problem is c2 has lost a lot of value but the turbo does not seem to move much in terms of becoming any cheaper weather it be temporary in these difficult times or for the long term.Is this proof of the residual for this model? Or should I wait some more? Will my c2 fall some more?

I would say your current car is soemwhere between 15-7k at the moment and still dropping
TTs have dropped to just over 25k for some 2000 cars and there are a number around for 30k
Then again one just sold on E Bay for 22.5k
Allegedly with FSH and undamaged.....
Thanks fro this info.
I have not seen many Turbos at that price and I have been looking.I guess it is being at the right place at the.........I saw a greenie for 29 but not my colour choice.
Price for mine is where I felt it was which would not hurt too much if the Turbo is a good price. It is the car for the long haul.
12 ish and mine I could live with.
Colour matters as does box, history and mods.
I will keep looking .
You will have to lend me your crystal ball...
That's exactly the right way to look at it. I bet it would have been more than that a year ago. Unless you buy something as rare as rocking horse dung, you will end up losing money. Just go for it, and enjoy it!
The 30k one at northways disproves that
Peter Morgan has given it the thumbs up so it cant be that bad
No its not everyones favourite colour but its a straight 996tt for 30k, not a pig
Mine was £31500 in August, and I can assure you it's no pig. Probably worth well under £30k now, but I don't give a monkey's. Every day I climb aboard and fire it up, the feeling is worth a million dollars.
(Although thinking about it, they are all porkers, aren't they?)
Buy one! Depreciation is becoming slightly more linear now and more so as manufacturers struggle to sell new stock. I think that will apply to your part-ex and what you are buying but .... here is the important thing - whilst it will continue to depreciate you get to use and enjoy the car - I therefore think waiting for them to drop further is a false economy. You are buying a lot of car for the money right now.
Thanks guys,
Full of sobering thoughts.
I was aware of the pig factor when I bought and chose wisely which cost me a few k more than many more of others on offer at the time. Private plate unattached at re sale, which came with the car, I will not be too many k down.
There seems to be a flood of 996's at present not that they were ever scarce, so mine will be one of many for sale but,in my view and OPC(last visit) a better than most.
The 6 or so months I have owned it compensates for the pocket losses and the time I have spent with it have reassure me that Porsche is the only weapon of choice for me- re the kindle for a Turbo.
You know the feeling when you want somwthing and your heart rules your head.I must take stock and play the cautious card.
Heres the OPC offer from September,. A little dated now.
15k for mine.
New car51 plate Turbo. price 42k. less px.
Full OPC history good colour and a 111 point check. Showing 40k promising @3k of work pre delivery.
Wonder what he would say now against a similar car(If he still works there)Formula seems to be Sell and wait to buy but what would I be in that period " a none Porsche owner" and that would never do now would it? :thumb: :worship:
Wo! I bet if you go back to the dealer he either won't take your 996 in part ex or he will drastically reduce his offer as prices have plummeted since September. £42K for an old turbo is an awful lot of money... consider selling your 996 private, even if you have to take nearer £10K (realistic value) cost of change will be less than giving it to the dealer & paying window price on Turbo. I just went through the process of buying a 911 & looked at 2 Turbos, one @ £31500 the other £30K. Both would have been confident purchases of well looked after ex condition cars (I decided I didn't enjoy the power delivery of the turbo). Cost to change for you around £20K instead of £25 - £30k (more likely) at the dealer. (why not stay normally aspirated & try an early GT3, which benefits from the strong engine and enjoys rarity value AND imo has more user friendly power...)
Might be that Mr Bader can't control the accelerator properly.
What with those wooden legs n all.
Merry Christmas everybody.
44k for 30,000 miler turbo in March. probably dropped 10k.
Gave me back 15k in smiles.
Just do it.
