Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello, Can anyone identify this part that was sticking out of my cab top. I spotted it sticking out between the folds of the roof on the exterior of the top with it down. How did it end up on the outside of the top Thanks

POST 2Original post

That looks like the flap that is mounted under the clamshell on each side. Open your clamshell halfway, and look under the clamshell on both sides. There should be a spring loaded flap on one side. That broken piece must be on the other side. The right side has part number Part#: 996-561-062-04 -OEM . Not sure of the number for the left side Probably and easy replacement once you buy a new one https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...-soft-top.html

Thanks Brother, that is exactly correct. Just went out to the car and took a look. I was able to simple reattach and it is back to normal. Can't believe the part was not broken, it just snapped back into place. Will keep my eye on it. Many thanks Dan

POST 4Original post

There should be a plastic flap or wing mounted to each of these. Hopefully you have that as well. I believe it's function is to protect the soft top from getting pinched and damaged by the clamshell mechanism. Could be a very expensive fix if you don't have the plastic flaps in place.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
