Does ayone have any experience of getting scratches polished off and can anyone recommend someone close to Edinburgh to sort my windscreen out?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

A bit messy, but it did the trick.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My windscreen has developed a lot of wiper blade scratches over the past couple of months. Wiper blades have been replaced but the scratches are getting to be a distraction when driving at night. Does ayone have any experience of getting scratches polished off and can anyone recommend someone close to Edinburgh to sort my windscreen out? Thanks

POST 2Original post

I bought a glass polishing kit from these people, which worked well removing light wiper scratches: http://abcpolishing.co.uk/ A bit messy, but it did the trick.

POST 3Original post

take the car to a glazing company, they will polish it out for you in 2 mins, i have a lot of glass done in my job

POST 4Original post

I also have loads of little swirl marks that I want to get rid of. I asked Autoglass if they could polish stuff out and they said no. What type of glazers would be able to help? An auto specialist, or a standard glazer? If anyone knows anywhere in London that could help, pls let me know. Richard - Did you buy the "windscreen polishing kit" from ABC? And was it easy to use?

POST 5Original post

sometimes when i buy glass from my sealed unit company they have marks or scratches on them, they just put some rouge on and hit it with the spinning wheel. removed in seconds.

POST 6Original post

Yes, that's the one [£28]. Like I said, it's a bit messy, as you have to mix up the powder with water, and then apply it with the felt mops they provide. The mops go in an electric drill, and they aren't terribly concentric, so until you get the hang of using the right consistency, speed, and pressure, the stuff goes all over the place. I found that by the time I got finished, I had just about mastered it and was ready to pack it all away! The kit might be a bit pricy, but they give you enough powder to last a lifetime. I've also heard the jeweller's rouge does a pretty good job, but I've never tried it.

POST 7Original post

Oddly enough, my Lexus picked up a nasty scratch from something under the wiper, just in front of my eyeline which needs sorting- distracting as you say. I found this which might work... http://www.frost.co.uk/item_Detail....atID=20&subCatID=&FrostCat=Glass&FrostSubcat=

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I did look into the DIY route but reluctant to "have a go" and bodge my own windscreen while learning how to remove the scratches. I was hoping there was someone locally with the skills to do it for me. Night time driving over the past couple of weeks has been terrible with the wiper scratches causing even more
