Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi! Just bought a 2005 996 4S with the PSE from factory! It has only 89 000 km on it, but the exhaust system is rusted through and my mechanic said that I need a new one! So I ordered a new PSE system from Porsche!! They also said I might as well change the manifolds. If I change to an aftermarket stainless steel manifolds, will the sound from the PSE (that awesome growl) still be the same or will I destroy the good growl the PSE makes?

POST 2Original post

Rusted through? Whats the rest of the car look like?😳 I have PSE and X51 headers. Sounds nice..like its supposed to. 200 cel cats would make it even better. Equal length headers wont upset the sound.

POST 3Original post

Rusted through?! Wow, my 2003 with 139k kms still has the original PSE. To answer your question, I would stick to OEM and go with the X51 headers...definitely won't lose the great PSE sound!

I will change some other rusty things on i too!! I ordered stainless steel manifolds from Designtek in the UK. Thanks for the input!!! https://designtek.uk/p/exhaust-manif...urce=doofinder
