Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I have had the same type of brake squeal problem since the day I brought it home new from the dealer. I have taken it in about 4-5 times and each time have been told that there is no problem whatsoever. They simply clean the pads/rotors/discs and return the car to me, squeaks and all. Braking performance has not been affected at all, but the sound is quite embarassing when driving around town......

POST 2Original post

They didn't say "They all do that"? Of course something is wrong; they just weren't interested in finding out what it is and correcting it under warranty. It would be fairly easy to simply try new pads first, and hope that worked. Maybe you're missing some of the anti-vibration disks that the pad backs rest against. My point is that they should not have let this problem continue this long. I have some sympathy for your situation because I took my car in twice for an A/C problem (blowing tepid air) and was twice told that the A/C checks out fine, and the tepid air is due to "operator error", like I'd just fallen off the turnip truck. Communication with the dealership owner got his trouble shooter on it, who quickly discovered that the A/C system was not fully charged; about the easiest and cheapest fix possible.

POST 3Original post

My street pads never squealed but my racing pads sure do. They're worse now that the weather has turned colder.

POST 4Original post

Sounds normal for track pads, though some squeal more than others. You can switch the OE pads back in to return to quiet braking. The OE pads work better when cold anyway. BlueBlast posted DIY instructions and photos for brake bleed and pad change at this site.
