Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suspected cause
There is a TSB (technical service bulletin), number 1726 I believe, dated February 27, 2006, that says 'A noise, (screeching) can be heard from the engine at around 2,000 rpm during the engine warmup phase.....The noise is caused by the control piston in the oil pump.'
Outcome qualification: Negation, uncertainty or missing explicit repair resolution overrides the raw extraction signal.

Took it in and they fixed it and said it just needed a 'spanner check' on the car.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all:
At 1200 miles I have developed a heat shield resonance at start up in the 2-3k RPM range and some rattles in the back hatch area. The car is at the dealer, but of course on Day 1 they have not been able to duplicate the noises. Anyone else have these issues and/or a dealer resolution of the same>
Thanks,
JHellow,

Hatch rattles, indeed.........mostly squeeking caused by movement/rubbing.....good luck with that.

Thanks for the info. This looks like the same problem Woodhouse reported early on. Glad there is a TSB on this finally. I will let my dealer know about this.
John
How can you review the TSBs? Is it just something you learn of when you go to the dealer for service, or are these posted somewhere (on the net?)? thanks
Thank you very much. Just what I needed. I had the same noise develop. Took it in and they fixed it and said it just needed a 'spanner check' on the car. The noise want, but has since returned. I will etake it back in.
FYI this is a very specific vibration at 2100 repm in any gear when the engine is cold. As soon as it's warmed, it goes away.
Thanks guys. Great info, as ever.
Jack
TSBs can be viewed at the Renntech site, after making a donation of a minimum of $25 to them. Well worth it, in my book.

I thought the nitty gritty details were free on the NHTSA.org site??? My tax dollars pay for this, it better be free... /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/taunt.gif
As long as your car is under warranty, I wouldexpect thatyou could just mention these TSB numbers to your service department and they would get right to work and explain the details of the problem to you,if you were that interested.
And in fact they did, but have been unable to duplicate what I am hearing on cold startup after a day. I am leaving the car overnight again and hope they hear this tomorrow morning. They did find and fix the rattle on the cover to the rear hatch, which was not properly fastened.
I have the same issue with my car. I am going to have them look at it when I bring it in to have the oil changed and the winter wheels and tires put on but I am afraid that they won't be able to "duplicate it".
Apply silicone grease, lube at the contact points & noise should be gone...not the best solution but better than squeeking...
