Once this was done I'd let it dry completely and then use Fabsil to seal it and make it waterproof again.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Morning all, long time no speak. Hope you are all well. Please can I ask for some help and advice...?? For the past few days my C4S convertible has been sat under some trees; I noticed this morning its covered in tree sap - so its going to get a really deep clean. However, just wondered if anyone had any tips on getting tree sap off of the soft top...?? Any help and advice very much appreciated. Regards Osh

POST 2Original post

Variety of products but as always be careful WD40 Nail Polish remover (use an earbud) Alcohol Tar Remover

POST 3Original post

Warm soapy water for me... and a scrubbing brush. It took a few attempts but it all came off. I then re dyed it and put a protector on and everything easily washes off now. (It didn't need to dyed because of the sap, just decided to do it)

POST 4Original post

I once tried boiling hot water, then a quick 140mph blast down my local dual carraigeway - thoroughly recommended......doesn't get rid of the sap though. On a serious note, I'd be trying boiling hot water, then a good scrub with some soap powder in hot water and elbow grease whilst the sap is still in a liquid state. Failing that - move on to the chemicals suggested.

POST 5Original post

If you have a vax (or similar) with a suitable attachment, you can use hot water to soften it and then remove most with the vacuum.

POST 6Original post

Capital idea. I'll remember that one as I have a VAX.

POST 7Original post

I had the same problem on my old Boxster. What I used to use was very hot water, biological washing powder and a scrubbing brush with stiff bristles. The reason I used biological washing powder was because it stopped the mould forming. Once this was done I'd let it dry completely and then use Fabsil to seal it and make it waterproof again.
