Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Ok seats out carpet out wirering checked no damage found .
Leading evidence: 'Check no damage found' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check i feel' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.

Thanks for the input have already checked under the rear roof for mice nests nibbling wires etc nothing found the problem I have is this error which always comes up with both issues is intermittent after a break for a holiday had to be brought back on the back of a truck because could not clear the problem had ecu's read but no errors to be found whatsoever thinking of going to a stealer for a diagnostic and see if they can come up with anything that we are unable with our equipment at a local indeed

i would visually inspect the tip cu and wiring....i would inspect the gear linkage on the box ..

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I all I have a2003 39 11 996 cabriolet message on dashboard gear selector not engaged also roll cage warning light illuminated anyone any ideas many thanks waiting in anticipation Graham
Roll cage light? I presume the auto deployed roll bars on a cab.
New one to me. Can you photo it and post on here?
Tiptronic too? Not my area, but should imagine it will be a common fault so others should be able to help. Maybe selector cables from the stick?
Off hand the two faults don't seem to be related but if they occurred at roughly the same time then it would indicate they are .
Tiptronics and the mechanism on the gearbox the gear cable connects to can partially seize .. your message is not the normal one for that though .
I've never seen a roll bar fault like this .. that's how rare it is ..
For me i would start with a fault code readout of Every control unit ..
After that i would put the roof into service position .. CTL fully open and the roof about 8 inches open .. then pop off the rear retaining cables from the ball joint and lift the glass section upwards so it sits on the roll bar area ..
I would then remove the rear carpet there and have a Damn good look for any mice nests which might have chewed through wiring .
The mice will run from the front of the car via the pollen filter or heater matrix cover .. along the inner panel under the carpets and into the rear .. the tip CU is in that area and the cab roof Cu is at the back .. under the carpet and left side .

Ok so gearbox message and you have no drive ??
Cab roof roll bar fault would not require a recovery truck .
No mice in the back .. look at pollen filter and the foam cover over the heater matrix for holes .. if both intact then we can rule out mice but mice is my first thought here ..
The control unit for the tip is roughly below the drivers seat belt mechanism and under a plastic cover that is a " rat run " for rodents .
With no fault codes it becomes problematic as with out one we don't have a clear path to follow ..
No fault code .. i would visually inspect the tip cu and wiring....i would inspect the gear linkage on the box ..
I would look at the actual values for gear lever and tip cu ..
I would remove and inspect the wiring plug that goes to the gear box ..
I would also look at a wiring diagram for the roll bar .. see if there are any connections with the tip in regards to wiring .. a shared fuse perhaps or an earth point .
this is going to be down to studying the wiring for both systems .. trying to find a link .. if not logically fault finding the wiring to the cu,s before condemning them ..
A control unit often cant be proved .. we have to try and disprove every other wire to say this is all that's left .
certainly a bit of fun for the mechanic but not so much for you i'm afraid .
last point .. no recent flat battery and jump starts ? .. i have seen issues in the past here but not your symptoms after a bad jump start .
Seems to be my lucky day got in the car this morning started ok no error messages on the display drove for 10 miles stopped at the fuel station went to restart not only original two but also airbag warning light on pluged scanner no error messages whatsoever obviously and electrical gremlin will look at suggestions of rodents but starting to pull my hair out and dislike this car very much
Well done that man found two dead mice around pollen filter not managed to get completely through but seem to have eaten some of the black tape around wires and now investigating if there are any bare wires in their many many thanks for the help and suggestion of mice maybe you need to buy a lottery ticket once again many many thanks Graham
We are not there yet though ..
If they haven't got in through the pollen filter then the only other place is the foam cover over the heater matrix .. its directly behind the battery ..
get a light and look at it from all angles .. if no hole in it then it's not mice .
If it is .. you need the front seats out . .. the carpet lifted and remove the plastic panel from front to back each side .. you can then inspect the wiring .. Tip CU on the drivers side and under the drivers seat belt .
After initial euphoria mice have not got into the main cabin only nested in pollen filter car started fine this morning no error messages 30 mile round trip went to start again the same three warning lights gear selector not engaged airbag and roll over warning lights lost for words I can not even selling like this maybe should not have a Porsche on a budget!!!!!

After a telephone call with an indie he suggests could be ignition switch apparently give all sorts of errors when on their way out anyone any thoughts
Well .. err .. yes .. hmm .. it's technically possible .. you do get strange faults from an ignition lock failure ..
All i can say is i've never seen the faults you have before .. ive changed Many ignition locks over the years .
For an ign lock fault then the issue would be there when started only so that part does fit .
A full control unit search and a look at Any fault codes is the first check i feel .
Not uncommon to find a code in an unrelated control unit that is actually the key to the fault .
Ok seats out carpet out wirering checked no damage found .
So decided to change starter switch £10.72 and no errors and car runs like a top hopefully fixed it
