Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I did have a a CD changer fitted a couple of weeks ago but I have drove it many times last week with no issues.
Leading evidence: 'Install couple of weeks ago' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check led' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I think I set the alarm so that the internal sensors were switched off (pressed the fob twice and the horn beeped once).

Sometimes you have to replace the faulty component before it will allow you to reset the fault register, depending on whether the fault is intermittent or present all the time.

It came back as having an Interior Sensor fault (amongst other minor issuse such as the alarm being activated several times etc) but the guy at the garage was concerned because he was unable to reset any of the faults from his computer.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My 2001 996 seems to have developed a problem. I last drove the car last Saturday and it has not been touched since. I think I set the alarm so that the internal sensors were switched off (pressed the fob twice and the horn beeped once). I went to it this morning and car had gone into stand by mode and I had to unlock the car using the key. After about 10 secs and before I could start the ignition the alarm beeped and then the siren went off. I stopped it by pressing the fob no problem, started the engine and drove off. When I got back and I tried to lock the car normally (one press) it locked fine but the alarm beeped twice. I unlocked it with no problems, no beeps etc. I locked it again and the same thing happened, it locked but beeped twice. I also tried to lock it by pressing the fob twice and it seemed to lock and then unlock. I have checked all the sensors (doors, front and rear lid, middle luggage compartment) and they are all closed. I did have a a CD changer fitted a couple of weeks ago but I have drove it many times last week with no issues. There is a very good chance that I am doing something stupid or wrong but I am not sure what that is!! Any help would be much appreciated.

When the car is locked, check the LED on the centre of the dash. Once it has settled down (10 seconds or so) see if it single-flashes every 2 seconds or double-flashes. A double-flash means that there is a system fault, and you need to get it plugged in to a Porsche tester to tell you whats wrong. I would suspect it is one of the door lock microswitches has stuck, but a diagnostic test will show what the problem is.
Thanks Richard, The LED's are flashing every 2 secs or so but went to an Indie yesterday and had it plugged in. It came back as having an Interior Sensor fault (amongst other minor issuse such as the alarm being activated several times etc) but the guy at the garage was concerned because he was unable to reset any of the faults from his computer. He thinks maybe that replacing the sensor would not solve the problem and that there maybe another underlying reason. Any thoughts?

If it shows a faulty sensor, then I would replace it. They are £80.11+VAT, and fairly easy to change - mounted in the overhead lights.
