Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I changed it, the central locking worked and I set off for the shops.
Leading evidence: 'Set off' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Inspect wires' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Its then a case of trying to pull the boot back far enough to inspect the wires .

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I took my car for an MOT last week. It failed on a front roll bar drop link joint. So parts acquired, I got a local mechanic to fit and retest. All good!
But when I collected, well halfway home, actually I noticed no windows or sunroof, and later no central locking.
A quick search suggested fuse C3 as the common fuse and this morning I checked and lo it was blown.
I changed it, the central locking worked and I set off for the shops.
Well actually I shut the driver's door and, with the fuse box cover still off I saw the fuse blow again as I closed the door. I immediately thought windows!
But the window still drops & rises on the door handle open & closure.
Has anyone done any fault finding in this area? and maybe understand what could be happening to blow a fuse as the door shuts?
Thanks,
Steve
logically and there is a short in the wiring harness to the door .. inside the rubber boot .
I think i would see if the fuse blew with the door open and closing the door lock with a screwdriver .. if no problem then pull the boot back and have a good look at the wiring .
obviously a fuse blowing is a dead short to earth .. downside is you have several systems off of this fuse .
Wiring diagram available should you need it young man and i'm more than happy to go through this fault with you if needed .
Above is my first thoughts though .
Hi deMort, well after nearly 6 months it blew the fuse again!
I did try latching//locking the lock, thumping the door in various places incase there's something loose inside, locking/unlocking but to no avail until Friday when the fuse went again as I shut the door.
By the rubber boot I assume that's where the loom comes through the A-pillar into the door? Does that just pull back, looks like there's a screw in the bottom of it but I didn't have my glasses on.
It was a bit wet yesterday but I'll try and have a look this week.
If you did have a wiring diagram to hand I'd be grateful, I've been looking online but can't find the right year.
Many Thanks,
The issue being so intermittent means only a visual look might find something.
It does sound like a damaged wire in the drivers door harness though ..
Not one of the easiest items to get at or repair im afraid .
The connection to the door .. from memory there's a T20 torx screw , you will need a very shallow ratchet and screwdriver bit .. undo this and pull carefully at the base until it comes away .. you then have to lift upwards as there is a plastic locating tab holding the top part in place .
You Really don't want to break this part as with just the screw it won't really seal .
Its then a case of trying to pull the boot back far enough to inspect the wires .
PM sent.
EDIT ..
Something like this to get the screw out ..
