I have used Costco's regular fuel for many years in my daily drivers without issue, but will not use Costco's fuel in my 911.

Use redline since they have pea per lake and charles

I have used Techron the most but have also used Redline since they have PEA per Lake and Charles.

Suggestion
If a top tier fuel station is too far out of the way of your current routine, using a fuel additive high in PEA every oil change will do the same thing.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am reading a lot about fuel additives and the community agrees that polyetheramine (PEA) is the way to go. But it is heavily advertised for DFI engines. Since this is an expensive additive, are we sure that it works when it is sprayed behind the valves and not directly in the combustion chamber? Are there other additives such as seafoam for example, that would work well for the m96 engine, since these are not DFI?
Lake Speed Jr has talked about this on YT both on his channel and with Porsche Car Club of America.
In the US he says to use Top Tier fuels that these have PEA added. Otherwise he lists a bunch.
I use Redline. One bottle a year
Take a look at Lake Speed's You Tube videos concerning fuel additives. He condemns Seafoam not only because it does not contain PEA, but also it does not do much for our engines. The video is very worthwhile. Take a look.
I have used Techron the most but have also used Redline since they have PEA per Lake and Charles. Driven also has a PEA product. Haven"t opened my engine up to see which one works the best. Techron is the least costly and was recommended by Porsche in a TSA well over 15 years ago to use.
Yes I have seen that video. This video convinced me that using PEA is the one and only road. But all the products I find in Europe that include PEA, are destined for DFI engines where injectors work under high pressure and high temperatures and they get more carbon build up. This is not the case with our injectors that's why I am asking...
As the rest of the thread has said, use PolyEtherAmine. There is a online top tier fuel station locator, but to make it quick and easy it's Shell all grades and Mobil 93. If a top tier fuel station is too far out of the way of your current routine, using a fuel additive high in PEA every oil change will do the same thing. Amsoil PI has the highest concentration for a commonly available over the counter product, but I'm sure the Redline/Driven stuff has an even higher concentration. If you're a penny pincher, use Techron every 3 months.
P.S.
These cars are quite sensitive to fuel quality, stay away from Costco/Walmart or equivalent gas stations.
Thanks, I am in Europe and use shell vpower98 (same as 93us). But the only PEA additives here are for DFI engines hence my question. Redline European formula is not the same, does not contain PEA...
Ah, OK.
I don't know much about Euro availability for certain products, but PEA will do the job regardless of what other additives are present. PEA is a detergent much like dish soap. The only thing that will affect effectiveness is concentration/dilution. Other chemicals present are purely additive.
PEA will work with port injectors, too, not simply DFI as far as I am aware. It should actually help clean the tops of the intake valves in a port injection engine, as the gas mist is being sprayed into the intake tract and so the fuel fog will hit the valves on its way into the cilynder.
I have used it with the thought being it will help clean the injectors, the valves, and the combustion chamber.
I also use what USA calls "top tier" fuels (like Shell), as they have more cleaning additives than required by the EPA for a non top tier fuel.
There are 2 liqui moly products in Europe. The one you sent, and this one (not Proline) half price:

Yes, Costco is a Top Tier fuel vendor. But, at 10 to 20 cents less per gallon, do you think Costco's additive package is as robust as the full price brands such as Shell, Mobil or BP? I do not think so. Costco's octane rating is 91 vs 93 for the other, full price, Top Tier brands. That tells me their additive package is missing something. I have used Costco's regular fuel for many years in my daily drivers without issue, but will not use Costco's fuel in my 911. Or other discount price fuels, either.
Define robust. Does robust mean having a detergent package with PEA? Costco has PEA in their Lubrizol concoction. Perhaps we get to pay an extra 10-20 cents per for the right to put in gas with a fancy Techron or V-Power marketing label? Costco has 93 octane in TN. Shell and Chevron are currently 40+ cents per gallon more for 93 here. I cant google fu any source for brand-specific gas additive packages. That info would be interesting. Opinions are nice, but facts are nicer.
Just like oil, use the best one youre most comfortable with.
From what I have read, Costco adds the bare minimum additive package to meet the basic requirements for a Top Tier fuel rating. How else can they meet their inexpensive price point? I have used Costco gas in my cars and motorhome for many years and have had no problems. But I am not using it in my Porsche or Cadillac 3.0 TT, both of which require 93 octane. By "robust," I mean the enhanced additive package that is in Shell's V Power 93 octane fuel and comparable brands' premium fuel. I care about all of my cars and what I put into them. Whether it is marketing hype or not, I want the best, additives in the Top Tier fuels. By the way, what is Costco's Lubrizol concoction?
This is what Top Tier says,
Yes, Top Tier gasoline certification is strict, and its standards are even more rigorous than California’s already strict base fuel requirements
. Top Tier, developed by automakers to reduce engine deposits and protect emission systems, ensures higher detergency levels across all octane grades.

I also use Redline, one bottle a year. This image is from the Lake Speed video on additives. The textual markup was done by me so I remember the specifics.
"How else can they meet their inexpensive price point?" By leveraging their
massive
volume like no other retailer and using it to beat up their suppliers! If you compare quality / price on the vast majority of their private label products, they are as good or better than the name brands across the spectrum. Why should a commodity like auto fuel be any different?!
Don't be fooled; name brands put a
huge
amount of money into marketing, which Costco refuses to subsidize. Costco also imposes very high standards on the products that carry their name (Costco & Kirkland).
I agree that using 93 is necessary. Other than that, no one on this thread has put forward any facts to suggest that Costco's Top Tier fuel would be bad to use in our cars.
If you didn't know,, a standard Costco Fuel station, gets its tanks filled up to 3 times a DAY, vs 3 times per week at best for most street stations..
I worked a consulting IT gig at a tank farm,, some tidbits I got from it..
It is totally common for 1 tank farm to sell fuel for almost all the companies, IE Texaco/Unocal/Mobile etc..
They pump out of the same tanks for all their customers and the specific fuel additives are mixed in to what is essentially raw generic refined gasoline.
To make it more fun ,, at many the mix is selected by the driver of the tanker truck, the Blends are pre-programmed by the tank farm as
additive packages are made up of chemicals traded on the back end supplier market like any other commodities, Often in medium to smaller cities the tank farm owns all the trucks as well, if you notice only a few of the major brands have the tanks dolled up with the livery of their company.
There is a single large office building in Houston that has hte C-levels in it for almost all the fuel companies and refining companies.. Its not an accident.
Anyway thats what I heard around the water-cooler while working with them..
Been years ago now,, but in my town (Portland OR) we only have 2 tank farms and they are on adjacent property and 99% of their fuel comes out of a Kinder Morgan pipeline from Seattle.
Cheers
