I have a base 996 convertible and I am replacing the articulating spoiler with a fixed wing (GT2 style).

There is also a setting u can click in the pwis program and it will keep the light off (fixed wing) and u dont have to change the harness at all.

I researched many threads and it looks like there are 3 wiring harnesses made by Porsche that negate the avoid spoiler warnings that display if you use the standard wiring harness with a fixed wing.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have a base 996 convertible and I am replacing the articulating spoiler with a fixed wing (GT2 style). I researched many threads and it looks like there are 3 wiring harnesses made by Porsche that negate the avoid spoiler warnings that display if you use the standard wiring harness with a fixed wing. I need to confirm which of these will best meet my needs. All of them have both been called out to "work", but also "not work" in various threads. Here is what I want out of the harness:
1) I want to avoid the spoiler warning (I think all 3 satisfy this)
2) I need the engine fan and engine bay light to work (Again, I think all 3 satisfy this)
3) I need the clam shell brake light to still work (fixed wing does not have an embedded brake light)
I think it is part 996-612-070-04, but can anyone confirm?

When I did my ducktail without brake light I used the

harness and followed the thread below for modifying it. Have zero issues and retained the same functions you are looking for.

Thanks for confirming. Just to be clear, the -04 is what you used in partnership with the write up. Does either-30 or -51 avoid the need for the write up? I am curious if there is a simple harness that satisfies my need or if the electrical surgery is needed regardless. Is there a harness that does what I need without having to do the adjustments after?
The aluminum orange hex mesh where the original spoiler motor/mechanism used to be? Or the carbon fiber rain baffles I made and backed with heat insulation? It started as a factory decklid.
Getty Design and Mcshaw both had harness for this at one time. U can also strip out a standard harness and get it to work. There is also a setting u can click in the pwis program and it will keep the light off (fixed wing) and u dont have to change the harness at all.
To keep it simple and 100% reverseable I did not cut up the OEM movable wing harness, just bought from Pelican Parts the

I made a cover for the removed motor out of ABS and heat formed it to the opening. It looks pretty good then I decided to skin it with some carbon fiber so Im waiting for that to finish laying up and be 2K clear coated. Im curious how itll hold up in the engine compartment heat
Im still looking for the right kind of engine soundproofing mat yours looks pretty durable. Do you mind sharing the type of insulation it is and where you got it 👍🏾
Thanks. I had to make the ducktail from a factory decklid. There a thread on it. It was a fun project.
