I really can't figure out how to use a diagnostic tool (I have a durametric and willing to get a piwis clone) because the key has to be in the ignition to get the real time reading and i also need the key to manipulate the door lock LOL.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I replaced my passenger door lock mechanism with the OEM (ouch) part to fix an issue that I was having with the window not dropping. The new part solved that problem.
Now I have another issue - when locking the car, the passenger side does not lock. I noticed this after I had almost everything put back together (only the door panel and the wire for the interior handle microswitch not connected).
I do not have a working key fob, so I always do this by locking the driver's side door with the key.
While trouble shooting, I have the new regulator plugged into the harness, but hanging out of the door so I can lock and unlock the car via the key in the drivers door and have a visual on the new mechanism. I can manually operate the new mechanism to close the door and set it to the lock position. If I do that and unlock the car via the key the motor that operates the locking mechanism does work and does unlock the passenger lock.
If I "close the door" and leave it in the unlocked position, locking the door via key does nothing - passenger door remains unlocked and the alarm gives a single beep.
Any ideas on this one? I am wondering if the new mechanism is defective or?
One beep tells that car sees one microswitch 'open' and can not arm the whole car.
I'd recommend to connect also wire to the interior door handle microswitch - then try again.
I put it back together with the wire to the door handle connected - same issue, not locking single beep.
Is there a list of all of the microswitches that I need to go through to find the culprit out there?
Does the drivers door stay locked when u turn the key in the door? My car would try to kick the drivers lock back to unlock and i would have to hold it for it to stay locked....the passenger door would not lock. In my case there was an issue with the immobilizer. It had a bad solder and thought a micro switch was open.
There r micro switches in the doors, glove box, center consol, front and rear trunks, also the central locking switch and motion sensor can call all cause a single beep. Can u get your hands on a piwis as it can help pin point the fault.
The drivers door does stay locked.
I really can't figure out how to use a diagnostic tool (I have a durametric and willing to get a piwis clone) because the key has to be in the ignition to get the real time reading and i also need the key to manipulate the door lock LOL. I don't want to even attempt to get another key made until I can figure out what is going on with the key that I do have.
