Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I checked all the eccentric bolts were free, marking their location before undoing them when changing the shocks and springs to ensure geo costs were minimised.

Only downside for a short interval between the fittings is you'll need to get the geometry checked twice.

Suggestion

As long as you disconnect the links at the hub/upright end only and don't change the eccentric bolts then fair enough.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well my Koni Special Active rear shocks will arrive today, but unfortunately the fronts are going to be another couple of weeks. Is it ok to just change the rears or should I wait and do all four shocks at the same time?

POST 3Original post

In general, anything brakes / suspension is best changing as an axle. If its only a few weeks till the other shocks get done it'll be fine.

POST 4Original post

Difference will be night and day when it's all done, best of luck with it!

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys I will crack on with the install as soon as work allows....I'm starting to miss lockdown

POST 6Original post

Only downside for a short interval between the fittings is you'll need to get the geometry checked twice.

POST 7Original post

Fitting the rears won't really affect the geo if the springs (hence ride height) are the same. Front a different story tho

POST 8Original post

As long as you disconnect the links at the hub/upright end only and don't change the eccentric bolts then fair enough.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

There's no changing of the ride height as I'm going to keep the original springs. Plan for the rear was to mark the eccentric coffin arm bolt as that apparently needs loosening to get strut out which should keep everything pretty close . After the fronts changed and top mounts done I will definitely get it aligned properly again.

POST 10Original post

For a week or two, driving carefully, I wouldnt worry about geometry in-between. I checked all the eccentric bolts were free, marking their location before undoing them when changing the shocks and springs to ensure geo costs were minimised.

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Does anyone have a guide of how to change the rear shocks, or a YouTube link? It seems there's loads for the front suspension but I can't find much for the rear shocks. Just wondering if I will have to take brake callipers off or I can get away with leaving them in place? Thanks for any advice.

POST 13Original post

Make sure you fit new drop links on the rear as doing them once the shocks are on is a PITA. That is unless your new shocks have a different mounting style for the drop links.
