I would take the inserts out to check but it isnt a 2 min task!
Leading evidence: 'Check but it isnt a 2 min task' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). I am about to change the engine mounts to the Type911 RS ones but have noticed the clonk taking up drive into reverse / hard on/off power seems to be getting more noticeable so assuming the front mount needs doing as well!

Changing my mounts to the RS type from Type911 was enough to sort all my gear change and any movement when selecting gears.

Gave the gearbox mount frame a quick lick of paint and finished replacing all the nylon nuts for the undertray.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Done some research and it seems changing the single mount is not straight forward without the AGA tool - or does someone have another method which doesnt involve removing the gearbox.
I saw the thread on the cut down then redesigned powerflex inserts. Is that the way to go for a quick DIY?

So do i bodge it with the inserts or go full out and buy/sell on the tool with the original lemforder bush?
Changing my mounts to the RS type from Type911 was enough to sort all my gear change and any movement when selecting gears. My old ones where the originals date stamped 1997 and cars done 70K. They had already leaked out all their fluid.
The powerflex mounts have since been modified so no need to cut down, unless you want them same as mine and infrasilvers. Sill have them in now and they're great - can't fault them. :thumb:
After mild panic, Im a clot and I've ruined my car as oil started pouring from the NS of the engine I calmly carried on with the OS so I could get the jacking beam out of the way and have a look what was happening.
It seems the engine dropped a little and the NS engine mount didnt like that. It is also not playing ball despite having the impact gun on it so i left it drenched in oil and wd40 overnight and moved on to removing the undertrays so I could give the gearbox mount nuts a soak.
More tomorrow!
Done.. And it moves
Gave the gearbox mount frame a quick lick of paint and finished replacing all the nylon nuts for the undertray. I bought some from heritage car parts which have a slightly smaller thread and drilled them out with a 4.5mm drill. The threads on the bolts could really do with cleaning out with a die of some sort
It is definitely very different. Whether the RS mounts combined with the insert is too much is up for debate. Maybe the insert wings are still too big?
I would say that actually, on a C2, it wouldnt be difficult to chop out the old bush with a hack saw, and then devise a home made press to pull another one in
This is what mine look like after I hacked them down as the NVH was just too much, especially under engine breaking around 4500 rpm.
Here's my thread on them if it helps:

Will check the engine braking at 4500rpm. Pretty sure it not doing that, just feels a bit more raw. I would take the inserts out to check but it isnt a 2 min task! The biggest faff is actually the undertrays.
Nothing like when i put a single mass flywheel in the 968cs. It sounded like you had run over a cardboard box when you lifted off. That came out pretty quickly!
Tell me about it. After I did the job a second time to trim them down I left the undertray off for a few days until I was happy the problem was cured. Led on a concrete drive in the rain in Lancashire isn't the best setting for working on your car. :-|
