Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

PS - Some early Porsche franchises have changed hands since, so there are cases where services were done but no longer visible on the OPC systems after the changeover

I bet the dealer used the gap as a tool to give a rock bottom price for the car when buying it.

Sadly this meant that many were then run on a shoestring budget and if they were only used at weekends owners would look at the mileage rather than timescales for servicing and maybe even move then on before bothering to pay for one.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi All
Need some advice please im on the look out for a 996.2 manual seen one at FGP but it has a 5 year gap in the history and has done over 16k in that time. Should i walk away, its strong money too.
I personally could never value a car at 'top money' with such a gap in S/H.
I would not dismiss the car outright, but it doesn't get my top dollar. Just think of the questions coming your way when you looking to move it on and people want to bend you over a barrel.
I always like lots of car history, so probably not the right person to answer. Price should reflect missing history for 2 reasons: (1) you are taking greater risk as these cars can cost £££ if not maintained regularly, (2) you will have greater challenges selling it on.
Thats interesting about FGP i didnt know that. But yea 5 yr gap with over 16k done in that time worried me alot although FGP didnt seem to think it was an issue at all! And its top money.
I'd respectfully disagree about FGP having bad rep. Luke has bought / sold a lot of 996's over the years, and for sure there's always going to be a couple of bad eggs and some vocal ones. They are a well established highly knowledgable specialist trader with lot more happy customers. And yes, I'm also speaking from experience. As with all traders, they exist to make money, and do so with a lot of repeat business, which says something. But for sure not same level as 911virgin etc, but different price point too.
It depends on when the gap was, the mileage covered and the remedial work since. Was it serviced and records have not been able to be traced.. or was is just not serviced? For example, a car which had a 5 year gap in 2003 and covered 2k miles in the period.. if the book wasn't stamped but you can see evidence of good maintenance and usage on it otherwise, it wouldn't worry me too much. But I'd make an an adjustment on price if the car is truly being offered at top money.
In your case, 16k is quite a few miles (but again depends when) MOT history would be a good place to look first, another thing to look out for is ownership changes in that period... hope this helps.

Thanks all, think ill walk away the gap is too much for me, wont fully discount FGP as ive never dealt with them but in this case the cars not right for me. :thumb:
I said they had a bad rep on here, not a bad rep in general. Use the search function if you don't believe me........all the posts of there for you to read.
I've had a look on the FGP site and if it's the car I think you're talking about that gap was quite a few years ago and the car has done 20k+ miles since.
When looking at 996s I fear you will come across a lot of cars like this as for a few years (2012-2015) values dropped to such a point that a lot of people were able to buy into a usable 911 for relative pocket money. Sadly this meant that many were then run on a shoestring budget and if they were only used at weekends owners would look at the mileage rather than timescales for servicing and maybe even move then on before bothering to pay for one.
Since 2015 values have risen but the 996 has remained the cheapest way into 911 ownership so enthusiasts have bought neglected cars and gradually brought them back up to scratch.
Unfortunately, as with this one, there's nothing that can be done to fill in the gaps that appeared but if the car has been brought back to life with lots of tlc since then it shouldn't necessarily be dismissed. Price wise a lot should depend upon the current condition - cosmetically and mechanically.
I totally agree, people express opinions without having any first hand experience. Beware the internet and misinformation. If you're interested in the vehicle speak to the dealer and ask questions, there maybe valid reasons for the gap in S/H. I have found FGP to be very approachable and honest, that being said from first hand experience.
