Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

New forum member so be gentle ;-) I'm considering upgrading my front driver & passenger belts via seatbeltplanet.com. My understanding are seat belts from a standard 996 Carrera are not compatible with 996 Turbos due to the sensor in the retractor. Needed for airbag & dash light. Additionally, are the front driver & passenger seat belts in the 996 coupes and cabriolets the same? May I ask the more experienced Porsche owners for their assistance & guidance. Thanks!

POST 2Original post

I can't answer your question but have you done the first step and looked up the part numbers online for each variation to see if they happen to be the same? If you get lucky and they are the same, there is your answer.

POST 3Original post

I have also been looking into new and or re-webbing my current seatbelts. First question is what year is your Turbo. Anything before 2002 doesn't have the airbag sensor. From 2002 on you have the green airbag sensor plug. The 997.1 seatbelts also fit the 996; I confirmed with the dealer when I requested part numbers for Guards Red seatbelts.

POST 4Original post

Coupes and cabrios have different seatbelt assemblies.

Thats weird, I assume theyd be the same. Do you know why theyre different?

POST 6Original post

The mounting points are different. Thus the seatbelts are completely different between coupe and cabrio.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Replied yesterday yvvvz, but guess I'm still a bit rusty on navigating on the forums again after a 5 yr break. Was in the vintage BMW world for many years with restorations/ resto mods. New to 911s... God help me. Check part #s??? Duh moment there and yes, they are different. Thanks for the reminder.

Good to know 2002 or later. I'll look into the 997.1 option too. Much thanks! Btw... seatbeltplanet.com's shop is around the corner from our office in Edmond. Legit biz, great staff. Gave me a tour of their shop

POST 10Original post

Send your stock units to SafetyRestore and they will change the webbing to whatever color you want.

Why are you considering doing this? Seriously, what issue are you trying to solve?

POST 12Original post

When I was exploring this, Seatbelt Planet was pretty adamant that the best option was to send them my OG hardware to be rewebbed as the Porsche hardware is extremely good. So if your hardware isnt damaged, Id do that.

Wrapping up a Safari conversion. Current belts are in good condition & work. Considering a second set re-belted with a "tasteful" pop. Really a B priority in the scheme of things.

They told me same. Like I said a few min ago, my current belts are fine, really a B priority and a bit of exploring if there is $$$ left in the budget. Good to hear Seatbelt Planet is consistent in their recommendations. I appreciate the replies!
