Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Can someone please tell me what these controls do? Any idea if the they function with an aftermarket stereo? If not, can they be removed and a storage shelf installed? thank you in advance! Frank Lo

POST 2Original post

Hi there, pretty sure there's no easy way to make these work with your head unit. You can either remove it and have storage in place, or remove both lower elements and do a GT3 console delete. Or you can move the AC controls to the bottom position to make room for a 2DIN head unit up top.

POST 3Original post

For mine (2001 C4 cab) I added a shelf and put in 4 port USB charger (2 USB-A and 2 USB-C) in the back of the shelf tied into the phone power that wasn't being used.

POST 4Original post

That is the control for the DSP (digital signal processor). I have that option too. It's part of the amplifier if I remember correctly and needs to stay connected unless you're replacing your amp. When I replaced my factory head unit, I kept the OEM amp and just wrapped the DSP control in a T-shirt and stowed it in the open space underneath the hump by the passenger footwell. That way it can't be seen or touched and you have room for a double DIN and storage cubby. Make sure all the options are turned off on the control unit. I had an issue where something was turned on and it made Siri and my phone calls very echo-y.

POST 5Original post

Yup that's the worthless DSP option. You can disable it and get rid of the control panel by jumping one wire on the amp. That info is in the PCCM plus thread somewhere.
