Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hi team, a question regarding tire noise in hard cornering. I am running 987.1 S stock size 18" Continental WSD. Seem ok for an all season tire. However, when cornering, say turning hard from a ground road to the on ramp of the expressway I get a grinding sound from the tire edges that is not tire squeal. My PS2's on my Boxster never did this. This is in dry conditions, close to 90 degree turn at between 50 and 65 MPH turn in speed 75MPH exit speed accelerating on to cruise speed, right on the edge of a slight drift. ( Love the Caymans ability to hold the road. )Thoughts?

POST 2Original post

It's a less capable tire, and you're probably hearing PSM/ASR activate.

POST 3Original post

Have you removed the tires and checked for rubbing? Another possibility is the power steering pump complaining due to the fluid level being low.

POST 4Original post

Fluids all good, I would not understand how stock tires would rub, however I have looked and there are no signs of rubbing. Power sterering is quiet. Loudest accesory is the AC pump. Seems the chunky edges of the tires are causing the noise.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
