Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I'm contemplating buying a C4S with 177,000 miles.
Its on the original engine and IMS. Its in excellent condition , both inside and out,
Its has some money spent on it in the last 18 months , coolant piper, power steering ...and so forth.
At £16k....is this about right ?.. or is the mileage something to really be concerned about ?....it hasn't been borescope'd either recently
Depends if it's a low owners, manual, in speed yellow with black hardbacks it could be good value but if it's an auto, cabrio, in metallic brown with brown soft back seats, 50+ owners and patchy history then I would say it's not so good value
We need more details to help
Thanks For the replies chaps .
I should've given a bit more detail ...apologies .
It's a silver manual, black interior with three previous owners .
It has no visible issues other than possibly some suspension work on the rear needed as it has the squeak so possibly top mounts or bushes or potentially more but apart from that it appears to want for nothing at the moment
I'm really conflicted on this one as I go from no walkaway to yes these will only go up in value but the mileage does concern me
...over valued with that mileage...
Would I buy a 996/7 with that mileage and no engine work? Absolutely not!
Think about the mileage for a moment...177,000...components,trim and exterior subjected to that amount of driving wear !
Even if you 'took it to Hartech' you'd still have a 177k car...
However, tis your hard earned and not mine
I agree the mileage is an issue for the whole car not just the
Engine I bought a 996.1c2 5 years ago with 820000 miles I thought
That was a lot but 5 years latter she has just passed 100k without
Any major works just cosmetic stuf like refurbished wheels she looks great
And based on the mileage on the car you are looking at I have about 19
Years more fun miles in my 996. Buy with the least amount of miles possible
Why not look at a base Carrara great car same money buys a better quality car
Sounds like a reasonable spec but the mileage would put off a lot of buyers so price needs to be about 20-25% under the average c4s same applies when time comes to sell
Maybe worth punt at £15k on the basis that an average mileage one would be worth £20k
Thank you Winny911..seller is not budging...shame as I really like the car but struggle to justify this amount...the 177k has kept me up at nights !
I think I'll have a look for a well sorted C2 :thumb:
...owner will struggle to sell at 177000 miles unless the price is significantly reduced...even then he will struggle...
An old Volvo with this mileage would struggle to shift...so a Porsche with known engine issues :floor:
If it is a 52 plate or newer, in a dark colour with no sunroof or sat nav, then I might be interested. Since I would be changing the suspension/brakes/engine / gearbox anyway.
