Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I bough my 2005MY 996 GT3 about ten years ago. When I did, I noticed that there was no VIN label on the under-side of the bonnet nor on page 4 of the maintenance booklet. All service details seemed original and at the correct dates. The car was sold originally by OPC Bournemouth. Does anyone have any ideas on how this could have come about?

POST 2Original post

=>MY2005 cars generally don't have a VIN sticker under the bonnet. I think they should for the service book though, normally added by the OPC on delivery to the first owner but could have been missed. I believe the sticker can be ordered from Porsche Germany via UK OPC after inspecting the car.

POST 3Original post

A replacement service book won't have a vin sticker in it .. Bonnet and either never fitted or a new bonnet / respray .

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Is that correct? I thought all models had this. Can anyone with a MY2005 confirm?

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Agreed, but I don't think it's a replacement. It looks like the original to me.

POST 7Original post

I've got a 2005my 996 turbo and mines got the sticker, my friends 2005my 997 c2s hasn't!

POST 8Original post

No 997s had the under bonnet sticker. I'd never heard of MY2005 996s not having them. I don't know whether the fact the OP(Jack911)'s car is a GT3 has any bearing on the matter. :dont know:

POST 9Original post

Guy on ebay does white labels, book/bonnet cracking job not cheap tho, might be worth an ask

POST 11Original post

My C4S is a MY2005 - no sticker and what looks to be original bonnet.
