Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Use 911s' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Test drive them all.)' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. While the 911 R is a beautiful car (as is the GT3) I don't think I could really "use" one unless I used it on the track .

They could use the turbo wing if they are afraid that thingie takes off.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have owned two Bosters S and while I love that car, I would like to try something different for my next car. I really want to buy a 911 however, the only 911 Porsche has ever made that has interested me has been the 2016 911R. I can't own one of those because they are sold out and while I do love it, to me personally it is not worth the "collector's item" pricing. I really wish Porsche would put the R into regular production. I would buy one even if it only had 450hp... In fact I would even accept 400hp. The hp isn't the point of this car to me, it's everything else: with all possible choices available, the R is how I would choose to build a 911. Please Porsche, hear my plea!
I think it's more or less official - the R is a pre-runner for the 991.2 GT3. The new GT3 will maybe not have magnesium this and titanium that, but it will have a manual gearbox and an NA flat 6. What more can you wish for?
While the 911 R is a beautiful car (as is the GT3) I don't think I could really "use" one unless I used it on the track . . . and that isn't going to happen.
There are some other great 911s out there that you could look at. Drive some of the other 911s. You might be surprised. (My dealership has a lot of used 911s on the lot. I could probably test drive them all.)
At almost 70, time is running out for me to own another 911 but I continue to dream. I hope that you fulfill your dream.
I haven't driven a 991R but I would assume you'll get the same feeling in a 997.2 GT3 but just not as fast. Get a 997.2 GT3 (comes in MT only) and remove the tail. Personally, I would never get an auto GT3, basically what the 991R is w/o the wing.
I could wish for the option of having no fixed rear wing on the gt3. If Porsche offers that, I'm sold, however I'm certain that won't happen. I assume there are some aftermarket solutions for this issue but I would question the high speed stability of a gt3 with that type of modification. After all, the whole car was designed under the assumption that the fixed rear wing would be there.
Now that's a good idea! That's about the best compromise I could hope for. I could live with the 911 Turbo wing on a gt3. Even better would be a "duck tail" but that's probably going too far.
I don't like wings!
The closets you can get to a 911R is a C2S, not much slower with MT and just about as fast with PDK.
My 991.2 C4S with PDK is faster to 60 then a 911R according to Porsche specs.
I haven't drunk the MT 'kool aid'.
Can't take the wings off a GT3 because it's designed for the downforce developed by the wing and I bet some very interesting things will happen!
Just purchase a C2S, you won't be able to tell the difference!-Richard
IMO, the 911R is nothing but a lightweight MT 991 Carrera non-S with suspenders. It's been limited to milk Porsche fans beyond reason, I call it marketing greed.
Buy a MT 991 Carrera and add the stripes, and your good to go at 1/3 of the R prices.
The hype around the R will fade once the MT 991 GT3 4.0 hits the showrooms. Then and only then R owners will feel how badly they got screwed.
But that's what the American public demands, and it's nothing new. Compare the 1964 Mustang to the one offered six years later or the C1 Corvette to the C3. As big as the 991 is, it's still smaller than its competition.
