Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So it looks like part of the Cabriolet top frame got crunched, bent, and damaged and now the cowel wont close. I considered trying to bend it back into place but its so badly damaged. I dont think I could and Im wondering why it got damaged in the first place and also wondering what the cost is to fix it. Definitely not looking forward to this one.

First you cab guys have to do yearly maintenance on the top. Grease joints etc etc. Try to remove the damaged part to heat and straighten or buy new.

POST 3Original post

Im having a bit of a hard time from the pictures seeing what is damaged but look up this part number and see if its this 99656190702 If it is and you cant straighten it out , it could be much worse the part is like 500 bucks new and used ones on ebay for under 100.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So it looks like the red part has been crunched and broken away from where it is supposed to attach on the orange part. Looks like its a metal frame piece that attaches to the top. I was able to grab a pair of pliers and bend it slightly so that it didnt interfere as much with the cowl closing. It seems to open and close OK. But the cowl still cant close completely.
