Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

PPI is a must also, a good Porsche indy will be better than a Porsche main dealer, they will check more things.
Leading evidence: 'Check more things' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check more things' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi guys
Looking for a 996 and would like any opinions on the carera 4 Tip, Is 90,000 a high milage for this car any problems with the FWD chain and Tiptronic box
Regards Steve
Welcome to 911uk - :bye:
90,000 miles is nothing for a 911 if its been looked after.. And with so many around at good money its a buyers market !!
You need to think of resale, so try and get some toys (bose, heated seats, sports seats....ect)
Check the service history, and look at every bill not just the service book. This will tell you what has been done on top of the servicing.
PPI is a must also, a good Porsche indy will be better than a Porsche main dealer, they will check more things.
Feel free to post up any questions no matter how weird you think they are, we all started somewhere.
Best of luck, keep us up to date on the search.

buying 911
Thats good news have given myself till april to find one and to learn as much as possible, drove down to paragon for a look to see what you get for your money, they all looked so good the quality of the older one's was quite surprising, managed to not let the rose tinted spec's take over.
Steve
Welcome!
Lots of info and tips here so fire away. Great time to buy any 911 and am sure it wont take as long as April although some take years to find 'the' one.
I havent heard any bad PR for any Tip box to be fair. As Dan says PPI is essential esp on 996.
You will not regret a 996 c4 I have had mine for only a short while and I look for any excuse to use it as it is my second car!!! It is a big step if youare used to Fords Vauxhalls etc and not as easy to live with everday, but just from a different planet, you will never hanker for another brand imo do not be put of by 90k if looked after
Hi and welcome...
I have a C4 manual with 108,000 miles on the clock and it's fine - haven't had to put a single drop of oil in between services for 40,000 miles now!
You may have seen on the Internet rumours of 996 engines grenading themselves, but apparently the Tips are much, much less prone to this anyway, so very low risk.
Worth getting a proper inspection if you don't 100% trust the seller or know it's history, but a great car and you will absolutely love it (but be warned - you'll be addicted and never be able to go back to an 'ordinary' car again... )
