Suggestion

For the sake of other drivers, if you must use LED headlamps stick with quality products with some legitimate approval; Phillips Ultinon, Porsche (may be Phillips), etc.

Okay I realize that this is not the most earth shaking question... BUT I know you [the collective]. have an answer....Is there a product out there that can be a plug and play replacement that UPGRADES the H-7 bulbs [in this case a 99 Carrera 996] as to light OUTPUT .... AND does not trip the CANBUS warning thresholds of bulb failure...Again not a huge problem BUT one that this forum is designed for...Cheers, JON HUNTER

Your 99 doesn't have CANBUS, so an H7 LED bulb will work without raising an error message. I don't like LED bulbs in halogen housings, though. They tend to cause a lot of glare for oncoming drivers, and they don't light the road up as well as a halogen. Try an upgraded halogen bulb, like Philips X-tremeVision.

I tried cheap H7 LEDs in my halogen projectors and they performed poorly. I may eventually try Osram Nightbreakers which are approved in the EU. For now, I'm using these which work better than the cheap LEDs and are brighter than the OEM H7s: Vosla H7 -they are 65W H9s in a H7 base.

Just avoid Amazon, eBay or unknown brands. Otherwise, there are plenty of decent quality halogen upgrades as noted.

If you contact AdrianTailights who is on this forum, he can provide advice and the products to do what you ask.. I have bought new wiring looms for my headlights and am in the middle of installing those and LED bulbs provided by Adrian.. his customer service is top level.. highly Recommend him.. G
