I am looking at a 2017
911S
and one of the options is the
PASM
sports suspension (20mm lower). I am concerned with the ride quality with this option. Is the ride quality with this option more harsh even in the comfort setting as compared to the standard suspension.
PASM
is standard on all
911s
from 2017. Historically though
PASM
normal has been a little more compliant than the stock non
PASM
and firmer in sport mode. I've had
PASM
in 997, 987 and 991 cars and have found it overall comfortable in normal mode.
As zedcat says, it is actually more compliant than stock in 'normal' mode and only becomes more stiff when the mode is switched
I think he's asking about
PASM
Sport, not just
PASM
(which is definitely more compliant than stock). I've never driven a car with
PASM
Sport, so I can't comment.
Ah, missed that. I haven't driven sport
PASM
either. Closest I can relate is the
PASM
in the GT3/
GT4
which I think is comfortable and compliant in normal mode. Even sport mode is not that rough, and it softens up- adapts- if it's in sport and driving conservatively. Then again some people call the GT3 harsh and not suitable for DD. The configurator description is pretty simplified although it says the aero is different. Drfootman, have you test driven yet? And what car(s) are you coming from. Another consideration is the lower height and if that leads you to need the front axle lift. I use the lift quite a bit around town and getting in and out of my drive in the GT3. Interested to hear your test drive impressions. Thanks
I think he is talking about regular
PASM
(which is normally 20mm lower) and if so there are
PASM
charts in the FAQ (simply click on the highlighted
PASM
term in these posts to get there) that will show you as others have said that
PASM
is more compliant than the fixed suspension in normal mode, if you want ride comfort you want
PASM
and as much rubber on a tire as you can get (for example 18" instead of 19" or 19" instead of 20" etc.)
PASM
is NOT an option for a 2017
911
,
PASM
is standard.
Therefore the OP must mean Sport
PASM
which will have stiffer ride, period.
Note the ride quality will be stiffer for the C2S because of the 20" wheels and nosier.-Richard
