Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that suspect a cause
1
0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suspected cause
have a point, it is probably a case of premuim price for no significant tangible gain.
Leading evidence: 'case of premuim price' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'case of premuim price' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Test drive both' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Hi, whats the general feeling......for weekend use on roads only, is it really worth going for a C4S over a standard C4?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Hi, whats the general feeling......for weekend use on roads only, is it really worth going for a C4S over a standard C4?
I prefer the look of the S, but not so much as to mean I dont like the standard, so that does not really come into it for me.
I have also looked around but could not easily locate full details of the performance differences, so if anyone knows them it would be useful.
Thanks.
4S is very slightly heavier, but may be a fraction quicker round corners with the wider track? So performance-wise the difference is negligible.
Personally I would go narrow body (and did) for two reasons:
I don't think the premium is worth it just for slightly wider rear wheelarches.
I struggled to park and then get in and out of the NB in tight spaces (especially in our road) and can't see the point of making it harder than it already is...
Finally, I bet you'll kerb the rears on an 'S' at least once before you realise just how much wider the track is than the front
Test drove a 2, then the 4S. Looks, handling and performace led me to buy a 4S. Now that prices are low there's no real premium anymore, negotaite hard and you'll get the car you want at the price you want tp pay. The 4S drive is awesome under every condition.
I suggest you test drive both then make up your own mind. Try and choose a rainy day and you'll be convinced after the first high speed bend!
Good luck :thumb:
hmmm,
Think I have to make a comment!! Not that I will be biased of course. The C4S is the best looking of the 996 range me thinks
uh:
The lower suspension and the turbo brakes are a very nice addition. However Jeremy Clarkson and Wattie!!! have a point, it is probably a case of premuim price for no significant tangible gain.
Don't think you will curb your alloys though!!! My alloys are prefect!!
Basically as the market is good, take your time drive the two derivatives and see what you think. Enjoy the search, plenty of great examples of the C4 and C4S out there.
Alan.
Oops
Thought this was a 993 thread - that will teach me to read the header first!
Styling is a personal thing, but I'm not a fan of facelift 996 styling - period. In particular I don't like the turbo body I'm afraid, so I would go 997 from my pre-facelift 996 (and I only like them with aerokit)
I agree that the 4S looks stunning (alan's car is very nice + love the wheels they really suit the car) etc etc but personally i prefer the standard narrow body car as its more pure 911 aswell as a bit more subtle IMO
996C4S Coupe and 996GT2's are the nicest 996's you can buy(IMO).....but whatever you do, don't get these two variants mixed-up :thumb:
Buy the 4S you will be very happy with it.....as some late year high spec 996 cars are now up to £10k cheaper than the early 997 4S !
In other words the 996 C4S is currently a 911 bargain!
