Suggestion

You can give the plastic a bit of keying and then use silicon adhesive which is quite flexible to stick them back on.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

After washing the car this weekend (nice and easy with the new layers of wax applied) I thought I would give the alloys a couple of coats of wheel wax. All well and good until this morning when I spotted that one of the emblemed wheel centres had decided to fall off during the night ... must have been too rough buffing them. I was wondering what sticky material to use to re-attach it ... glue, tape, etc. Thanks in advance. Rich. (PS Loving the brake dust free (almost) PCCB !!!)

POST 2Original post

They are very prone to falling off due to the tiny amount of glue that is used. You can give the plastic a bit of keying and then use silicon adhesive which is quite flexible to stick them back on. Good idea to carefully prise them all off and reglue the lot as it is more than likely that the others will come of soon as well and at £10 a time for the emblems it starts to get expensive  TB

POST 3Original post

My o/side rear wheel badge left the GT2 last week(that's the second in a month)....they seem to be held on with some of Sir Alex Fergusons old chewing gum! I had three spare badges in Nov 2008 thinking I'd never need them...now down to one

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks TB - will give silicon a try. Rich.

POST 7Original post

Snap, walked out ealrier on to find one of mine was missing! Is there anywhere to get these from other than a OPC???

POST 8Original post

Dafydd You could try PorscheShop they sell wheel centres. I've used they many time great service. Simon http://www.porscheshop.co.uk/acatalog/wheel_center_caps_porsche.html

POST 9Original post

IIRC they only sell the entire centre. The badges can usually be found on flea-bay at about a tenner each TB

POST 11Original post

Had this problem repeatedly with my 996 GT3. Wayne, the Technician at Exeter OPC recommended WYNNS Black Gasket maker as an adhesive. Tried it out and reglued all four badges. End of problem.
