I bought a 2007 base 911 coupe last month-it is just under 4 years old-2 months of warranty left plus a CPO warranty-and needs major service soon.
Can anyone approximate the cost at a Porsche dealer for this work? $2000? More?
It's okay. I am sitting down.
Thanks.
Congrats on the purchase. Forest green is a very good color. Do you still have the 328? I saw your screen name on one of the 3-series forums. As for the series, what does the owner manual say? On the caymans, at 4 years, the manual says to replace the spark plugs along with the major service. If they had certified the car, I think they would have atleast performed the major service. Ask the dealer to provide the CPO checklist and the work order Spark plugs could cost you around 500 replaced, but some Service managers don't recommend doing it at 4 years if the mileage is on the low end.
Good luck and enjoy the car.
I am sure if you called any Porsche dealer or independent Porsche shop, they would be happy to quote you a price. And it's likely to be more accurate than you'll get on any blog.
+1 Good advice. I just did the 2 year service on my 09 and it was $850 at the local Porsche dealer. They give you a detailed check list of what's included.
Thanks very much! Yes I still have the 328i. I gave it to the wife to keep her happy!
My car is almost 4 years old, 16,700 miles. The guy who owned it hardly drove it. My MPG is mediocre (tip.) 17.5-18.8 mpg 60% highway, 40% streets. I talked to the service advisor today and he told me to rev to at least 4500 to blow off some of the carbon and that may help my mpg.
As far as I know, the car only had oil changes and a thorough CPO inspection done recently. I have the CPO checklist.
The SA old me to go with the major service next month.
I forgot to ask him what it costs.
Thank you again! I am enjoying the car!
I made an appointment for major service next Tuesday-warranty expires April 23rd, with 2 year CPO extension. I was quoted approximately $1600. A VW CC will be my free loaner-not bad-since I bought the car out of state.
Well, at least service intervals are spaced at every 2 years.
Thanks for the input.
get your oil changed at least once a year. Porsche downgraded it as US fuel had more ethanol added.
Update: I was given a 2010 PDK, black, sport chrono-ed Cayman S as a loaner for the day during major service for my 911, instead of the VW CC which was "out".
Meanwhile after the major service, my 911 mpg immediately jumped from 18.8 mpg to 20.8 mpg.
The prices i originally posted did not include plugs, which is recommended at 40,000 mi or 4 yrs. A local dealer quoted me about $1300 for major service with plugs. A local indy shop was about $900 for same service.
