My 996 only has one key for it, no idea what happened to the others, the locks have been changed since it was built (I ordered a spare from porsche for £60, based on the original locks, it doesnt fit, as changed)

i will get a new head unit programmed at some point, but for now i finally have a spare, because of the problems i had with the locks being changed from th factory records, i had to clone the only key I had

used the above firm, they were superb, I DIDNT EVEN HAVE TO SEND MY KEY TO THEM TO COPY, they did it off a photo i took of the pattern and it works!

Hi Fraser, yep, its just key blade cutting, which was the tricky bit for me, i have an old head unit which no longer works, so i stuck the blade in that, it now opens and starts car (setting off alarm), but wont open front and rear compartments

I have read all about the coding of the remote, I am wised up on this, I have a fresh head unit waiting to be coded< i just need to get the blade copied from my only key.
I have bought several HAA blanks (the manufacturor of porshe metal key blades), had them copied off my master from Timpsons, they look identical, but dont QUITE fit, timpson to be fair to them has done the cutting for free, as they cant guarantee them
the SHOULD be identical
Anyone know anyone with a more accurate copying machine? (Timpson have admitted there machines arent that accurate enough..!?
Sadly I have tried this once already, at some point the locks have been changed and Porsche only have the record of the Original locks, not the newer ones... :sad:
So i have to get one cloned from my sole key!

amazing technology, they have a £20,000 lazer cutting machine that can work off photos!
hey Edward, so this is just key blade cut? you then have to slot it into the end fob thingy and obviously its not remote so just key in door stuff?? which is ok for manual locking, ignition etc?? cheers
