Hi Everybody!!
I am being offered a
911
millennium edition. The seller has sent me pictures. Appears to be in great condition. I am not really sure about the Violet Chromaflair paint. In the pictures the car appears to be black.
Has anybody seen one of these? How does the paint actually look? Is it worth to get into this car as there were only
911
of them built?
According to the specifications this cars were loaded with every single option available at the turn of the century (makes it sound old, but I actually was lloking for an older
Porsche
, even looking at '99s).
I would appreciate any input>
Thanks.
Don't expect any "collector" value for the car over time, it's a typical special edition w/ paint, leather, etc. I believe all of them are C4's so that can be a plus depending on your climate and how you drive. The car is now 11 years old and the 996
M96 engine
issues are well known. The paint looks purple/black metallic in varying shades under varying lighting. It's not bad, but you should see it in different lighting conditions before deciding to buy. If you really like the car and the equipment, PPI done by someone who knows 996s checks out okay, the prices are certainly attractive. I would not buy a 996 just because it's "cheap", because "cheap" can become "expensive"
Porsche
fast. Good luck!
Thanks.
I looked at the car the other day. It's in pretty good hape. A couple of small dents (dealer said he would get most of them fixed) and one small chip in the paint. Has 58 K on it. Only one owner.
Asking 25 K. Interior is excellent for a car this old. A couple of minor stains in the back seats and some fading on the driver seat from getting in and out.
Does it sound fair?
Thanks again!
I checked the Excellence website which puts the Hi/Lo for 2000 C4
Carrera
at 27K/20K so you're closer to high than low at 25K, but at least it's in their range. Excellence makes no mention of the Millenium Edition on their summary so it's going to be valued as a regular C4. Is this a
Porsche
dealer that's selling the car and has it had a good PPI done? If the car is mechanically sound and the PPI done by a competent
Porsche
mechanic checks out the price may be fair. Remember any major mechanical issue could run into the thousands out of warranty. Also it's a buyer's market and that means the dealer may take a few grand less just to move the car. Good luck and keep us posted!
I have been driving a Millennium C4 for the last 2 years and the car has a lot of options, great
Bose sound system
, Tritonic lights, lush interior. Just make sure all functions properly. The color is a hoot because it really goes from charcoal/black to violet/purple depending on the lighting. Sometimes it looks like a metal brown of dark green. When I bought mine, the PSM kept going on the fritz at high speeds. Turns out it was a dirty air filter. One of the rods that controls the levelling of the Tritonic lights was busted. Cost was
next
to nothing to fix. The price of a Millenium is about equal to a Cabrio. There aren't too many around any more. So in my book that makes it an exclusive
Porsche 911
.
I drove one when they first came out. It is a very nice looking car. The value is always a personal thing. There are lots of items to check out on an older 996. I would not purchase a 99.
I have millenium car i love it where ever i go, its turns head i have no problem 5 years, now it has TPC turbo on ...and i say go fore it if PPi cheks clean .
Tritonic lights?? What's that?! Are you sure its not the Millenium Falcon??
