yes, my old car - bought in 2007 for £60k and sold after 3 years, 12k miles and many trackdays for circa £47k - prior my ownership it was rubbed along the barriers at Hohe Acht/Wipperman complex, repaired by Manthey so that no one would have been any wiser and had the K410 kit fitted during said repair.

IIRC there were 221 mk2 Gt3 brought to the Uk, i guess a few have died on track and in accidents, anyone know how many are left, even better if there is a comfort/club sport split?
Site would suggest around 222 left which would be MkIIs & RSs, out of I guess around 330. Surprised the attrition rate is that high! Which suggest something is odd about the data.
I think imports affect the data also?
Edit: this is the definition:
Date of first registration is the date that a vehicle first became known to the DVLA. This is usually the same as the year the car was built.
Imports will be counted under the year they were brought into the UK, and some restored classic vehicles will be counted under the year they were brought back on the road.

On a serious note (not that they aren't worth £90k of course!) has there ever been a 6.2 register? I know Evoeng runs one for 6 gt2's but to anyone's knowledge has there ever been one for 996 gt3s. If not, given the attrition rate and the fact they are future classics in the making (😉) what's to stop us starting one now.
Here's the first on the list, mine;
996 Gt3 mkII, Reg GT03TDT, polar silver, comfort spec with buckets (and deposit paid with Steve at JZM to install techequipment cage and harnesses). Can't remember the chassis/engine number at the mo as on holidays but will update this later.
Let me know, I'm happy to start building a register up in Excel if people think it's a good idea - Either reply or PM me with details of cars.
No worries if there's not the appetite for it either, I'll just return to my beer in the sun by the pool.
Si
A register would be interesting, I think it would be good to keep a record of 6.2 GT3s but not sure if putting all information regarding chassis numbers etc on an open forum is a great idea. Just my thoughts as I have often wondered how many 6.2s are left.
On a similar note...
I am trying to figure out how many 996 Turbo S coupe/cabrios are out there....
'How Many Left?' is much harder to get to an answer here!
Any bright ideas?
Thanks
I agree with the security issues re an open list of serial numbers etc.
So how do we go about compiling a list then?
It can't be that hard to do given probably 50%+ of owners are on this forum already.
S
perhaps sensitive information should be kept private by personal email but it wont hurt to publish the numbers on the forum regarding how many cars are on the register and colours if you get one started.
seeing there was a glimmer of interest i started a facebook page for the 996 GT3 Club, from there i think we can create a private group that only invited people can join, if we wanted to start a more detailed database? however i am certainly no social media guru, so I'm happy to be steered by others.
Just for sharing pics and stuff it could be good, the 964 page has a massive following !
I cant pick my car up for a couple of weeks but the basics are: SY, Clubsport, 03.
Ok, so far we have the following list (with a few missing details). Can I suggest that anyone who wants to add to it cuts and pastes it into a new post and adds their details at the bottom. We have 8 cars to start with, let's see how many we can get up to....
Polar Silver 04 comfort, buckets, cage, etc Siheb

Rick I am assuming you bought the club sport from Dove House. Hopefully I might see it around as I am also based in Northants.

i did, saw it two years ago, and didn't want to miss it this time, despite the extra miles and price. Very impressed with the Dove House team and their pre purchase process.

They are raw in comparison to many performance cars, I did 140 miles in mine yesterday and on these roads you certainly feel them, they pick up every bump etc. In my normal car the roads seem quite smooth. Lol.
I've setup a GT2 club/register on a site that I part own, I'm currently adding all the 996 GT2s to it, have details around 90 of the 120 cars. If you lot are interested in using the system I can set you up on it, it's a bit clunky at the moment but is designed for exactly what you're doing here.
Link is in my profile if you want to see it.
Cheers
Kal, are you buddies with Steve Adds?
If not a friend of a friend has set one up already but not sure how many hehas got. If its not kal then hopefully hell post on here

At last another Atlas, I was getting lonely here for a while.
Seriously though it seems this was a good idea by the OP and obviously of interest.
There's 2 more Atlas ones up here in Aberdeen (both comforts I think) plus a black comfort, a cobalt CS same as mine and a red CS too.
So if I can count properly that's 26 cars listed in just over 24 hours. Not bad. Seems that Guards is the most popular colour too, and then maybe Basalt?
My polar silver, 1st on the list has done 44,000 miles btw for whoever asked about mileage earlier.
Let's see how many more we can get on here in the next 24 hours and beyond....
I certainly use mine on track, im no schumacher but get so much enjoyment from it. At the ring or spa its really special.
Mines probably the ideal specimen for it though, well used car been through a few refreshes and a bit tired paint wise.

Where do we think prices are for these at present? RPM seem to be asking strong money.
I have an Emira coming next year so need something in the collection gone. I’ve used the 6.2 GT3 the least in the last year and it’s closest in my garage at least to what the Emira does.
Black 2005 Comfort with buckets and a few small other extras on 38k… I’m worried if I sell it everyone will wake up to how good they are and they’ll be 100k!
'We've' been waiting for the used cars to peak 100k for the past 5+ years (or whenever the boom started) for the market to wake up but its not happened.
I'm assuming it's due to them being too old, too 'hardcore' and looks not everyone gets. For them to break the 100k barrier it would need to be like the rs events, ie all of them sold then the sellers just named the price.
As for what yours is worth, see what the average price is for the mileage at a dealers, knock 10k off for private. +2/3k for club sport or -?k if it needs new tyres/suspension/work.
If its modified and not really returnable to oem, it appeals to a niche market within a niche market but there's a bum for every seat at a price
Alfapork, yours sounds very similar to mine except mine has just under 50k miles on it.
Mine too is a Comfort, with OEM leather buckets and Tequipment cage.
I may be putting mine up in February and I’ll probably pitch it at £65k with a view to getting low £60k’s. If I don’t get an offer starting with a six, I’ll just keep it. I may keep it anyway, I just have a lot of itches to scratch and know of a very good F430 Coupe that’s coming up in the spring.

Its strange really. I bought mine at 2 yrs old. Price new started with a 7. Price I paid started with a 5. I’ve seen the prices all over the place. But the reality remains you will not make money trading 996 GT3’s. The depreciation however is low to non-existent so your only risk will be interest & maintenance.

Yep, I was fortunate that I got mine near the bottom of the depreciation curve but sold it for more but over the 10 years I owned it, probably broke even
I think the super low mileage one in the classifieds (if it's still there) is around £200k but that's a museum/collectors piece
Having said that, they'll probably rocket up just like my tesla shares did after I sold them
That sounds fair if it’s mint.
Mine needs some paint to bumper, bonnet and maybe side skirts, due to gravel rash.
I’ll do it if I’m going to sell it but if not I’ll leave it. I’m happy with it being useable and I’ll only fuss over it if I make it spotless.
I’ll make a decision in a month or two.

Rare for sure, but they’re a chunky premium over a “stock” Mk 2, and whilst a few appreciate the Motorsport aesthetics and “improved” driving dynamics, many don’t. Now too expensive to track, and the stock Mk 2 makes more sense as a road car for most.
For many a 997 GT3 at the same price point as a 996 RS makes more sense and some would say a better, though less tactile, road car.

Im only talking from a rarity point of view..collectors of rare cars seldom look at them let alone drive them!!

Which would tend to indicate that rarity alone isn't a guarantee of increased value. If it were, the ultra rare Mk2 996 GT2 would be trading at £250K +.
The C16 Mk1 996 GT3 & GT2 Clubsport are rarer animals than the 996 GT3 RS, yet values aren't anywhere close to those of the RS.

I hadn't previously looked, but the recent SCD video with contemporary 996 GT3 RS, BMW M3 CSL and Ferrari Challenge Stradale, prompted me to check and the 996 RS seem to trade roughly around the price of the Challenge Stradale which, although I'm not a Ferrari customer/fan, is a very fine car indeed.
Yes it is one. I follow him on Insta (although I’m rarely on there).
Got mine out and gave it a wash the other day. I have a couple of people interested in it at £60k. I’m not going to advertise it though. If they drop out I’ll keep it. I can’t really be bothered with a new car search but I’ve got some itches I want to scratch.
Using Bilt Hamber Touchless at the moment. Not good for foamy pics but it does seem to lift a lot of dirt.
Going for a service next week and it’s good to go.

Yes it needs a front end freshen up for stonechips if the buyer wants to park it in a field and look at it. I was going to enjoy it for a few years before I get fussy with it.

If it's the car I'm thinking of, it was a bit leggy on the miles compared with the others on the market at the same time. It had been used properly, and upgraded with KW's, it had also lived in Scotland for a large proportion of its life, so the underside had suffered from the vast amounts of sodium chloride they like to cover the roads in north of the border.
If it wasn't that car, it could have been the example that had a Manthey K410 kit engine upgrade and got stacked @ the 'Ring and was then repaired properly by Manthey albeit at great cost.
Hi Henry, it was probably the first one you mention, although it was years ago now. I just remember that being as low as they got.
Anyone know why loads have come and gone for sale but this one has sat unsold for what must be years now? Good colour, great mileage, decent history supposedly.
Fair enough it has chairs but that's easily remedied.

If, and I do stress IF it's the car I think it could be, it'd be worth having a chat with Mike at Sports & Classic about it.
Ah it’s ok Henry. I’m not after it, just curious as to why it has been for sale since I bought mine in 2019.
Despite it never dropping in price much it now looks cheap in today’s market.
Equally I wouldn’t want to cast any doubt over it if it’s a good car, but there must be a reason why nobody has bought it after all this time.
It appears to tick a lot of boxes.

sorry only just seen this post. yes, my old car - bought in 2007 for £60k and sold after 3 years, 12k miles and many trackdays for circa £47k - prior my ownership it was rubbed along the barriers at Hohe Acht/Wipperman complex, repaired by Manthey so that no one would have been any wiser and had the K410 kit fitted during said repair. It was actually a really decent example, properly set up and fast. the reason it was a bugger to sell was because it was a no a/c car which no one at the time wanted (understandably). no idea where the car is now, but i'd happily buy it back. part-ex'd at the time for a gen 1 997 3.6 GT3 RS which wasn't as fast or fun to drive, just a lot more civilised.
It has been - the link to the black one was there earlier. I was greetin' over my cornflakes at the price being asked - i'll never be able to get one at this rate!!

I know at least one of those cars from the plate. I can guess whose the others were. It may well be that it was a group from the 911uk forum.

That was a very early 911uk Ring trip, you can see Sundeep's yellow MKII GT3. I'm parked out of picture somewhere.

Went the year before to the Manthey Day with a group form 911UK, just checked out the thread seems half the attendees are now banned by 911UK

Heavens! What an absolute beauty. PCCB's too, which is rare on 996.
I don't know the car, but it's just about perfect for anyone after a touring, rather than Clubsport spec.

Just check out the PCCB's .... first generation and fragile ...
The front rotors hole pattern looks odd and not like PCCB, ST perhaps?

So good news for any prospective buyer - much better than OEM gen 1 PCCB's.

Yep, no boxing the ST's up and leaving them to gather cobwebs in the loft.
