Somebody fitted these retro ones to my Golf and they seem to work just fine, although with only 2 sensors don't have quite the sight of 4 but very good nevertheless.............

Not sure how uch they cost to get fitted to bumper and sprayed to match(set on pistonheads at the moment £25).However have seen a set that comes mounted on number plate plinth at local motor spares.just need to take off number plat and refit with this carrier underneath so less issues with bumper.

They use the car's stereo speakers, so I guess they utilise the standard wiring loom.

Halfords kit is not so neat, nor is a local ICE firm, Sextons who use Steelmate (both fit for £199 all in).
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi there,
did anyone retrofitted parking sensors on a 996 ? OPC ? Indy ?
How much, how happy ? tell me everything !
Im picking up my 996 TT and doesnt come with parking sensors - im toying the idea of retrofitting it - shouldn't be too much no ?
Cheers

Yesterday in Halfrauds I saw a kit they do at £200 (I think fitted) with colour matching for the sensors at an extra £20 and it looked very OEM to me. I wouldn't be afraid to hand over my car to them if I was interested in having one fitted.

Parking sensors
Hi Proenca. I agree with Maxie Islam.
I got parking sensors retro'd by independent dealer Lodge Motors of Yateley when I bought my 03 C2 Coupe in December 07 (I negotiated this when the Boxster S trade-in price couldn't be moved any further).
I think this only cost the dealer around £200. I don't know who they used, but the job's a good'un, as they say. Installation is impeccable, the paint on the sensors is a fairly close match to my Arctic Silver - not exact but only really distinguishable upon very close inspection. They use the car's stereo speakers, so I guess they utilise the standard wiring loom. They function very well too, increasing in pitch as the distance closes.
I was also told by Cameron Sports Cars that they had a local (Bristol) supplier who would do this for £250-ish, so you should be able to find this in your area - try car security and ICE suppliers as well as Halfrauds.
I've had park-assist on several company cars and I wouldn't be without it. Yes, other forum members will say it makes you lazy and call you (and me) a girl for not being able to park by yourself, but I promise it will help stop you running over preoccupied idiots in the supermarket car park, or bashing your bodywork against low-slung tow hitches in the dark. (Who can honestly say they have never let the car roll back a bit further while slotting it into first...)
Cheers!
Retrofitting parking sensors
Hi, Ive just joined 911uk since upgrading from a Boxster S to a 03 Targa. javascript:emoticon('

SmileI've been researching retro parking sensor kits and have read several threads about them as well as Googling. The best installation I've so far seen is with PCT Coventry (linked to the indy Autobahn). About £325 all in but it's a bit far to travel. Can anybody identify the make of the sensors shown on their website? Halfords kit is not so neat, nor is a local ICE firm, Sextons who use Steelmate (both fit for £199 all in).
Hi welcome Winco! Excellent excellent choice of car may I say
I would ask to see an example of Sexton's installation and then take it from there if the others are not viable.

Hi, contemplating parking sensors too, although concerned about them making a mess of the rear bumper.
Saw this from Porscheshop.co.uk
http://www.porscheshop.co.uk/acatalog/porsche_battery_chargers_electrical_items.html#a5812
one of which sticks on the inside of the bumper ..? so makes less of a mess (unless it falls off)
Has anyone have any experience of these ones ?
:?:
I have aftermarket reversing sensors and unfortunately they didn't stop me reversing into someone (although, you could argue he actually drove into me, but that's another story).
They cost about £250 as said on here and look very OEM and much, much better than the earlier standard equipment warts.
The downside is that if you have these fitted to your car, you cannot get OPC warranty applied to your car period.
It's a longer story about why my car didn't come with reversing sensors (the original car was ordered new with them specified), but the upshot is that it's not possible to retrofit the official Porsche ones.
Cheers.
I just bought my first 997
After searching for a while I found the car I wanted - an Atlas Grey coupe with all the options I needed (except for parking sensors!).
Mike at Sports and Classics in Knutsford did a fantastic job retrofitting a set. Colour match was perfect and they look as good as factory-fit.
Go to
www.sportsandclassic.com
where there are photos of other jobs. £345 + VAT bit higher than some have quoted here, but I always believe you get what you pay for and after spending £40k+ on the right car skimping on this would be bonkers.

I agree with Maryn1. You should not be behind the wheel of a 400bhp monster if you can't park. No point in going 170mph forward if you cant drive 5mph backwards. Maybe money spent on parking sensors would be better spent on some lessons.
