After one of the door membranes was replaced (not by an OPC) it still continued to let water in (except as it did not rain for a week after it was changed, it took a week to notice this).

When it was replaced this time ensured that all the previous mastic was removed (with hair dryer) and also let the door get thoroughly dry before applying the new membrane.

A quick internet search and a couple of phone calls and the car was off to the nearest suitable repair place (an OPC purely for convenience) to get the door membranes replaced.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Folks, I purchased a 1999 C2 cab last November, and love it. However, after about two weeks of ownership, and some particularly heavy rain, I noticed that the bottoms of the door cards were damp/wet  A quick internet search and a couple of phone calls and the car was off to the nearest suitable repair place (an OPC purely for convenience) to get the door membranes replaced. Car duly dropped off, and OPC diagnosed the membranes needed replacing in about 5 minutes. Car collected the following day, it rained, and the inside of the doors were wet again  Back to the OPC. Advice this time was that the windows needed adjusting as there was a bit of a gap. Something that on a 'cab' they'd failed to even check the first time :frustrated: Windows adjusted, and after yet more rain I still had wet doors :? By now, given the truly appalling customer service of the OPC I have the Service Manager involved and my car goes back to the OPC for one week for them to finally sort the problem. Within that week all the seals were checked, mastic was applied beneath the top windscreen seal and the car was water checked. I collected the car having been assured that all was well. You've guessed it! The next time it rained I had a dry drivers door and a soaking wet passenger door   Back to the same OPC, and I now have the Porsche Head Office Customer Service involved, who take the car for another week to really really solve the problem. One week later and the OPC return my car saying water was getting in via the passenger wing mirror and that courtesy of some mastic the problem has been solved and all will be well. For just under two months it was In yesterdays heavy rain, I again have a soaking wet passenger door card (along the bottom edge). So much so that the cloth I had placed inside the car to absorb the water needed wringing out this morning after the water ingress had managed to soak the door card then dribble in to the front foot well  I spoke to the OPC yet again yesterday afternoon. The Service bod was looking to speak with the service manager this morning to see how best to proceed, then call me back. Suffice to say that as I write this (in a fashion I am rapidly becoming used to sadly) I've heard nothing from the OPC, and I'm about to 'speak' to the Head Office again :x After several attempts and over two weeks of having my car the problem still isn't fixed. I apologise for the length of this post, but can anyone offer up any other solutions to my problem as the OPC/ and their technicians clearly need all the help they can get 8) Either that or anyone know a cheap drugs supplier I can visit before I go stark raving mental Many thanks K

POST 2Original post

I previously had this problem with my boxster. Assume that the OPC did not let the door thoroughly dry and that is why you are continuing to have problems. Hope you get it sorted!

POST 3Original post

I assume that the OPC checked that the drainage slots at the bottom of the door close to the iner and outer clinch flange have been cleaned out. When water can get in its best to have a way of letting it get out! Big Bob
