My understanding is that if you pay to have parts replaced on the car by Porsche (non warranty covered) then it is automatically covered by a two year parts and labour guarantee.

Last Feb my 2001 996 c4 had a full engine rebuild due to the intermediate shaft failing (done by Porsche East London under the Extended Warranty). It has also had a new Front Diff changed under warranty in the last year. The warranty is due to expire next month and having weighed up the pro's and con's I have decided that I will not be renewing it. £895 up to £1350 is a step too far and my view (especially given the big ticket items it had done recently). Only time will tell if this is a good move or not. My question however relates to the work that has been done on the car under warranty. My understanding is that if you pay to have parts replaced on the car by Porsche (non warranty covered) then it is automatically covered by a two year parts and labour guarantee. I wanted to know if this guarantee would also apply to the parts that have been replaced under warranty (e.g. the Engine and Front Diff). Having spoken to Porsche UK Customer Services the response was that any work done under warranty is not covered by the two year part and labour guarantee. Can anyone confirm if they have found this to be the case if something done whilst under warranty has then become defective within two years but after the warranty has expired?

I'm afraid the parts are definitely not covered: A warranty is not a guarantee that the parts will not fail - it is a promise that the purchaser will not have to pay for the same parts more than once within the warranty period. In this case the purchaser was the warranty company - not you! Sorry, but this has always been the case with warranties
