Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

However, all was not lost - the problem with my Becker unit was clearly mechanical so I stripped both units and swapped the printed circuit boards over (which are layed out identically but do have noticeably different circuitry).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, Thought you might like this dodge that I took a punt on and won - the Becker Silverstone (OE) multi-changer on my 996 C4S 2002 started munching my CD's and the magazine. I bought a new mag and it did it again.... So, priced up a new Becker unit and couldn't find one sub £200.00 and nothing going on eBay. During my searches I noticed that the Sony CDX T67 looked remarkably similar and they were going on eBay for about £10.00 - had to be worth a go eh? Guess what, it didn't work. Figured it must be a software compatibility issue. However, all was not lost - the problem with my Becker unit was clearly mechanical so I stripped both units and swapped the printed circuit boards over (which are layed out identically but do have noticeably different circuitry). Works perfectly. 6 soldered connections and about an hours work. Result!

POST 2Original post

nice bit of work. In a similar vein I have just ordered an OBD interface box to hopefully let me activate my trip computer. I also bought some ecu tuning software, apparently has most cars tuning maps pre loaded on it. I'm sure not everyone agrees, but to charge 500 quid to remap my car, is laughable when its about as difficult as loading a new graphics card driver on my PC. I'll let you know how I get on with it

POST 3Original post

:thumb: Great stuff, this is the sort of information I like to see on a car forums. I think we should have a sticky where really useful information can be stored, especially when it can equate to saving ££££s

POST 4Original post

Excellent info - Did you take any picts? timm996 - Do keep us updated with your progress! Thanks!

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

No pics taken but I still have the U/S bits stripped so I'll take a few and post them up.
