Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

I have a 40th anniversary 996 and have a problem with the inbuilt phone, whether the sim card has been inserted into the head unit or not the wording on the screen alternates between phone off and checking card anyone come across this one before. The car is a 2004 car with 7000miles on the clock. Regards Mike

POST 2Original post

I have recently bought a 2004 C4S with built in phone. i have had this message before even though the phone had been working ok prior to seeing it. I removed the sim card and reinserted it while the engine was running and i knew i was in an area where i coud get reception and it seemed to right itself, i guess you have already tried this. Julie

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks richard,it sure looks expensive. Regards Mike

POST 6Original post

Hi, Im trying to fit an aftermarket mobile phone car kit (Bury cc9060) into a 2004 C2 Anniversary and via the Renntech forums, there are numerous mentions of a phone kit lead under the centre console - with all the relevant connections waiting to be used. I've looked everywhere but can't find it. Could it be under the seat where this OE kit is fitted ? Regards & thanks, Paul 2004 C2 Anniversary

POST 7Original post

The telephone preparation kit was only fitted as standard to US models, unfortunately. On a facelift 996 you will need to tap in to the fuse box or relay panel to get an ignition-switched positive feed.

POST 8Original post

Richard, thanks for the quick response. Time to get busy under the dash panel ! Thanks gain, Paul 2004 C2 Anniversary
