Anyway, I was set to buy some 18" twists but checked the front calipers and the clearance is pretty tight.

There are a couple different OEM wheels that I really like but I think all of them look better which is unusual for me because wheels are usually one of the first things I change of a car.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I really want to go to OEM 18" wheels on my car. I got it with these wheels and the Brembo brakes. While I love the Brembo's, I don't care for polished wheels and this particular style. I know they are very expensive wheels, just not to my liking. Anyway, I was set to buy some 18" twists but checked the front calipers and the clearance is pretty tight. Not sure if there is a half inch of space between the caliper and the rim. I don't suppose there is any way to know for sure without trying to bolt on a set of 18's?

POST 2Original post

18" is a factory size so they should fit with factory calipers. If you have aftermarket calipers, who knows???

POST 3Original post

You can always move up to 19" wheels, but IMHO, the 18" match the car better. The only way would be to measure the inner diameter and compare it to the OEM twists you want to purchase. You know my opinion ... those chrome wheels don't compliment the car like silver OEM type. IMHO.

Yeah, they are 19". I should have stated that in my post. I agree with you that the 18's would look better and so would silver (or black). Not only do I not like the polished but I don't like the style. I wouldn't mind polished if they were more "racy" looking but these are just too flashy looking. There are a couple different OEM wheels that I really like but I think all of them look better which is unusual for me because wheels are usually one of the first things I change of a car. I think the 18's would make the ride a little smoother too.

POST 5Original post

Yea, many people have moved back to 18" and even down to 17" for a more "touring" ride quality on the 996. The 19" are really different... I had a new Camaro with 20" with low profile tires and while it drove very tight around the corners, it was a rough ride.

POST 6Original post

Assuming those are 355mm rotors, 18" wheels will clear the 4 piston Brembo GT calipers. The biggest issue you're going to have is offset, you may need some spacers to clear the face of the wheel.
