It was a faulty sensor and was replaced under warranty, all fine now...

Suggestion
I'd not worry about an oil pressure gauge "bobbing" many 996 do it and often a wire connector/sensor terminal clean sorts it out.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

rather get it fixed than live with a leaking supercar...
Hi everyone..
SEE PIC's BELOW!!!! dont look too good..
well i'v had my TT for 3-4 months now.. I posted a topic on my oil gauge bobing up and down.. on the way home it dropped to 0 then back up and working again and gave me a fault.. I got home and had look under the back of the car and have noticed that there are three oil leaks.. the leaks are at the back near the exhaust.. one is coming from the middle drain plug i think it has an alan key shaped hole in it.. the others are coming from further out about 6 inches away from the middle one but in the same place both sides.. again it looks like there is a drain plug there but it's not coming from the plug but looks as if it's coming from a join in parts bolted together.. i'm trying to explain what it looks like but it's hard... there is box on each side up near the wheels this has a pipe maybe 3/8 dia that runs to the back near the axhaust one of the clamps that holds the pipes is bolted to were it's leaking.. it's in line with were the manifolds are bolted to the engine but nearer to the back of the car...
I'm going to take it to the garage tomorrow and see what they say but i'm a bit worried that there's so many leaks  ... does any one know if this is a common problem... the cars only done 30.000 and was meant to have had a major service before i got the car..
I have looked under the car before and i didnt notice them a month ago or so...
any help on this matter would be great..
Thanks
A
When you say leak how much are you talking about, a drip, a stream, a flood?
My oil pressure needle used to 'bob' up and down then one day it did what yours did, drop to zero and the warning light came on. I checked and no oil leakage. It was a faulty sensor and was replaced under warranty, all fine now...
Would be concerned about the oil leaking though. Def get it seen to ASAP...
I would call it wet leaking black oil and grim mixed together it could be left over from a service or it could be leaking i just didnt expect to see oil under there at all.. it's not dripping as I haven't noticed any drips but my drive is black tarmac..
I have just looked at the RMS problems that can happen and it's not that as it's not at the transmission join.. it's right at the back near the bumper just infront of the exhaust box.. i'v just been outside and nearly got myself stuck under the car!! there's not much room to move under there.. I think the middle leak is coming from the drain plug (I hope) i'm going to go and take some pictures and post them if i can.. will post back once i'v done it..
thanks

ok here's some pic's
HAS ANYONE HAD OR SEEN THIS ON THERE TURBO??
03year 30.000 miles....
middle drain leak.. i have cleaned the oil off in these pictures but you can still see it
drivers side leak you can see the manifold at the top.
passengerside leak allot worse
this leak looks odd it looks like it's coming from the join in the cylinder block and crank case... (gulp)
it's under warrenty so they can fix it if it's a major thing..
I'd not worry about an oil pressure gauge "bobbing" many 996 do it and often a wire connector/sensor terminal clean sorts it out.
The big oil leak worry is the Rear Main Seal(RMS) yours look slight(not RMS). Often if the car is left parked for la ong time it will drip. No one wants an oil leak but few 911 over 3/4 years oil are completely bone dry. Fixing those/yours may cost a lot vs the fact that they may never get any worse so ask yourself a question......
Can I live with it?....many of us do(unless it's the RMS), as it comes with owning a 911 sometimes :frustrated: :frustrated:
well they have it now and are looking at into it... but i'll keep you informed as to what is the problem/what they find.. they did say there should not be any leaks at the back of the engine, even them saying that has made me think it's a major one... we will see..
thanks for all the help. it's all a bit worrying when you spend allot of money on car and it leaks oil...
Driving a Suzuki Swift jelly mold
This is my 10 bobs worth:
Change the OPS and clean the block all under warranty.
I would not start stripping down the engine, that could bring on future problems.
As said, the 911 does suffer with the odd drip, something most just live with.
They did say that 911's drip a little but then followed it up with but not Turbo's there should no leaks at all... so maybe if your driving a C2 or C4 or GT3 but not a TT or GT2 they said it should be looked at sraight away. if any oil is seen.. i'm guessing it due to added 100BHP or more horse power....
will wait and see what comes back.. havent' heard anything as yet so it must be more than just a dribble!!!
thanks again all..

Got a call back from the garage.. they took the back end apart airbox etc and say there are no major oil leaks or anything to worry about.. they did say that there was oil spilt from the oil filter when changed that has gone down the back of the engine and down the bottom.. they did however find that the sender unit for the oil gauge was shot and is getting replaced under warrenty... they have cleaned up the oil that was spilt. they did say that it is not uncommon for the joints in the engine to sweat a little oil this is ok, it's when it starts leaking on the floor a coupe of drops a day that it needs looking at weather this be from the RMS or any other place on a Turbo...
just waiting for the parts to arrive and i'll have it back..
I must say i am pleased it's not anything major but was a little bit of a scare for me...i'v never had a leaky car before even my 10 year old scooby was bone dry and never had anything leak... why cant all car makers make engines that are sealed these days...
 thanks all once again... i'm off to drive my Swift :sleepy:
