Center armrest 06 boxster black

What do u guys think. Got some quotes to re cover. Why too much.

There's a repair service that does a reasonably good job fixing those kinds of problems. Dealerships use them often on cars taken as trade-ins because they're just not inclined to spend recovering money on a traded car. I actually used that kind of service on a small Acura SUV many years ago and was very happy with the result. Don't remember the cost but at the time I felt it was reasonable.

Do you want to get a brand new one or don't mind a "used one" which you can just swap? May be you can find a decent one on Ebay or from a salvage / parts specialist like this? R & D Exotics I was going to buy a whole center console in the past (if I "messed up" painting which, luckily, turned out ok).

Upholstery trimming done perfectly commands a high price, TBH. I did my shifter gaiter myself using real Alcantara from Poland on the cheap; it looks very good although it's admittedly not a superb and concours job. The vinyl on this same 987 armrest similarly cracked -- and I thought about either vinyl wrapping it or redoing it myself. Instead, I was able to source an exact and used version and it is 100% accurate -- without breaking the bank. Finally, in my BMW E30, I have a rare Husco arm rest that I had professionally reupholstered in real leather to match the rest of the car -- glad I left that to an expert. Again, getting something to look right doesn't have to cost much; I'd say just find a replacement and be done with it -- unless you want to "upgrade" it with having someone reupholster it with actual leather. Just my 2 cents.
