Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 2000 Carrera and when cold its developed a sort of whine noise from under the left rear passenger seat, closer to the transmission side than the wheel side. Hard to describe, sort of sounds like something spinning without sufficient lubrication. Its road speed related as it stays the same if you put it into neutral. I tried the weaving around idea to see if its a wheel bearing, but the noise doesnt change. Only notice it from around 50 mph upwards and is quite noticeable by 70 (even the wife mentioned it !) . Once all is warmed up etc it seems to go away (which was the case when i had driven the 25 miles to Porsche dealer !!) Am thinking to take it back and leave it overnight so they can hit the open road when its cold. There again, maybe as its the only Porsche i have had, is this just normal ? cheers simon
