I see JZM appear to be leading the way with price setting (apart from the viper green car on sale privately) but it looks like a sub 10k mile RS goes up about £10k a month and then there is the 4.0ltr at multiples of £10k a month.

Fine if you want a car to use everyday - but in the current climate of hysterical pricing, then a GT3 needs to stand out as a bit 'special' - bucket seats, pccbs and the right colour.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Not often I start a thread but what on earth is going on at the moment with the 997 GT3 market? It seems that unless its got leather seats the value is bubbling up on a daily basis. I see JZM appear to be leading the way with price setting (apart from the viper green car on sale privately) but it looks like a sub 10k mile RS goes up about £10k a month and then there is the 4.0ltr at multiples of £10k a month.
I get that there are a few 991 GT3 owners without a toy to use at the moment but can this really be the reason for the price hike?
Interested in the views on such a price hike and is it to stay or is the bubble about to burst?
I'm not sure about £10k per month - by my reckoning since I bought my 997.2 GT3 RS last September I've 'made' about £3k per month - but I'm not ready to cash in (so have actually ‘made’ nothing); I've every intention of keeping it for a while…
This is the issue, those that have the cars are hanging on to them and so it takes more and more exceptional offers to tempt them away - the 991 GT3 is of no interest to me and so I won't be trading against it either.
Supply and Demand – it’s a simple as that – coupled of course with low interest rates etc…
I recently toyed with the idea of buying a Lotus Exige V6 Cup and ‘laying up’ the RS to appreciate, but I just can’t do it – I just want to drive it; life really is too short!

I did mention leather being a critical factor. Take the leather out and its worth a fortune!
Somewhere between this
http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyI...
and the 991 thermal issue it all went right/wrong depending on your situation.

Very desirable item, restricted supply, more buyers than sellers. Could be anything, happens to be a very fine range of cars.

Looking at the classifieds that looks like a bargain?
Agreed. I know it's not the best spec but still has the magic motor out back + manual so still a great car for a decent price (after all you cant really see the colour when youre sat in it
)...
Where GT3RS prices are concerned the world has gone truly bonkers - been watching prices closely for months and they appear to have made fearsome gains - especially of late . Where will all this end ? Was in the market but sheeeesh - I'm out !

Bite the bullet, they are only around their original rrp and imho if you want a car for keeps then you will not regret it, nothing else comes close for the money, value for money they most certainly are, would not swap mine for 2 991 turbo s. In USA and ROW it's the same story.
Did someone really pay nearly a quater of a million for a RS4.0??? Wowza!
Surely the reason for these prices is the lack of a manual version of the new GT3?
IMO a GT3 'comfort' spec is a bit too mainstream to justify a premium price.

No someone paid 300 for a RHD car and there is another buyer looking for the right car with 350k

Assuming it's a Porsche Warranty is it not technically void once the car is resold through a dealership? I'm sure that's in the wording of the policy.
Shame for me that it sold to a dealer so quickly.
I was planning on calling the private seller this morning after being away,
For me mid 50's was good....mid/high 60's is daft.....But hey ho, someone may feel that a good buy

This may help..
.
He may not actually be a serious seller.
Nothing to lose. Put up an ad - ask a joke price, if someone pays he's laughing. If they don't he's flattered the perceived value of his car, and perpetuated the current hysterical market place.
A fiddled with left hooker.
It won't exactly appeal to many buyers in the UK. Not saying it's not good but there's always a reason for something being cheaper and I wouldn't consider buying that car if I was looking for one.
FWIW from October 2013 the 997 GT3 PH classifieds had the following cars at the following prices as I made a crib sheet when I bought mine. By far the most available cars were the RS and the comfort but I had ruled out an RS hence them not on the list. What I have noticed is that the comforts have taken a tumble.
Year Miles P/T £Asking Comments
09 59 14.5 T 80k Comfort
09 59 35 P 68k Club Sport/High Spec/PCCB
09 59 20 T 70k Comfort
09 59 18 T 78k Comfort
09 59 13 T 78.5k Club Sport High Spec
09 59 7 T 77.9k Comfort
10 59 7 T 80k
10 59 7 T 72k
10 59 7 T 78k
The 911 GB car in Riv Blue was PCCB and lifting with high spec and about 18k miles at £80k in December? I think.

For historical balance, when I was shopping at the end of 2011 the chart was (all Trade RS or CS {wasn't interested in comforts} 997.2):
Date Miles Type Initial Price Price When Sold

Yes - a 20 month old RS with 600 miles went for less than £97k from an OPC (aux audio input was the only spec item on the car) and I know that the 17 month old 1500 mile RS went to a PHer for much the same. Clubsports were moving essentially on £80k. The sub £75k car was reserved on the phone the morning after the price was cut to that in December 2011 (was the second time that it had been reduced by Reading after having been on the market from Autumn at a rather optimistic ~£90k).
The highest price car was an options list special - everything except (oddly) cruise control.

There will be some very disappointed gt3 owners when people realise how good the 991 version really is.
Even an opc dealer wouldn't be that daft to mark that car up for that figure.
He might as well stick another 100k on it like the green one !

Only around 17k over priced !
Says who? You on your couch or the guy waiting to buy it? Proof will be in the pudding...
Given its apparent provenience, I don't think that's too far fetched for a >30k mile CS in an agreeable colour. In fact, it's currently the cheapest CS on these here classifieds! The 997 GT3 entry fee now starts with a 6 and that's for a
Comfort with rather too many owners

I'd like to buy a 997GT3 but theses price rises are killing me, I wish I'd bought one last year when they were still 55-60k.
Damm.
Be good to see what the blue car actually traded for!
As the owner said he didn't have a rush of private buyers calling.
This makes the lovely red gen 2 look a bargain.

Could be a long wait. But who knows. What makes you think they will come back down? There's always the possibility of a correction, but I can't see them being less than current prices in a few years down the line. History shows you that
Also with a much bigger market (worldwide), demand is up. Supply is fixed at best, or more likely it will fall.

Lovely 996GT3 at JZM. Low mileage, one owner and nice colour. At £47k perhaps a better bet than spending a further £20k on a 997(1)GT3.
Lovely car that. Actually think id buy that before id buy the 997 again

Agreed as its 997 GT3 Market Watch. FWIW there is a red 991 GT3 for sale at OPC ABZ at somewhere about £130k so that is the 991 GT3 market watch updated.
